Yes and Dan Cleary can play better hockey than anyone on this board too. Like Cleary, Ken Holland is a professional (in theory), who is paid a LOT of money to do his job. Pretty much anyone in a professional field is better at their job than someone who isn't part of that field. But that certainly doesn't mean that an outsider can't objectively see when someone is sucking at their job. Edit: To add to that, if the new standard for managing the Wings is, "well, he's better than fans on a message board," we're in a s**t-tonne of trouble.

This reminds me of a GDT I did earlier this year called the "Ken Commandments"

It's winning based on a skill competition basically. You don't see games being determined by home run derbys, dunk contests or some sort of qb competition. Shootouts used to be exciting to me, but now since they are so often it kind of lost its luster.

What about the wings?!?! I mean if you look closely there is a wheel to symbolize the motor city and a wings attached cause we're the wings

Whoever did that to the Wiki page is hilarious. Holland has become a villain and the write up is well deserved.

http://www.ontheforecheck.com/2014/6/23/5821156/ranking-nhl-teams-game-of-thrones-edition Got a good chuckle out of this, and it's amusingly accurate to boot. Also a nice diversion from the suckage that has been this offseason so far. Spoilers, maybe, for some that aren't up to speed on all the eps...

Holland made an offer for more money and same term for Niskanen and same with other UFAs so it's not like he isn't making idiotic moves just no one is accepting them

I just thought of something. The reason Ken Holland wants all his players to be overripe and 1000% NHL ready is because in his 1st NHL game he got lit up for 7 goals. It all makes sense now.

Please Help Me Win GDT of the year.

Normally you would be correct, but there's been a lot of talk in the front office about sending him to GR. He's basically defected to HF No trade. We'll retain his rights. *evil grin*

Yea, but no one says what they'd do as GM. I bet if the average Red Wing fan became GM, he/she would make horrible trades and sign over priced UFA's. We'd be like the Leafs and our team would be build around guys like Kessel, Phaneuf, Lupul, Clarkson, van Reimsdyk and Bozak for the next 4 years plus. No thanks, I'll take Kenny, who's building the team with the draft, isn't signing any over priced UFA's, and actually knows how the cap works. I understand signing Quincey and Cleary isn't "sexy", but they're only 1 and 2 year deals. That Niskanen deal is insane! Smith and Dekeyser are going to be better then him. Unless a team has drafted the player, I don't think any UFA should be signed for over 4 years. Do an online search and see how many horrible long term UFA signings there's been since 2005-06. The Wings don't have any bad ones over 3 years. The only potential bad one could be Weiss, but he's got a few years to still make the deal a good one.

Not only do I want Total Tomfoolery , but I demand Utter Shenanigans along with, dare I say, The Old Razzle Dazzle. "Real Fans" would expect nothing less. P.S. Franzen is lazy and he sucks.

I think the helmet one is dumb. If you're in your own end on a pk defending and someone checks you, knocks the helmet off, somehow you deserve a penalty because you don't want to leave your team even more shorthanded to go put the helmet back on or go back to the bench?

The organization has gotta love this kid. Skilled. Hardworking. And a showman on top of that! He's my favorite of the kids at the moment. IMO he has the highest ceiling as well

Idk about u, but if I had made the big leagues I woulda milked every second out of playing for the wings. Especially if the GM was giving 2.5 million too. Sure beats retiring

Cleary is a competitor. What made him great for those years is the same thing that makes him not want to quit now. I can't fault a guy for wanting to play for the Red Wings for another year. If Cleary makes the team it's because the GM who gave him this contract and his coach decided he should have a spot over younger players. That's not Cleary's fault. It's not his responsibility to decline a job with the Red Wings because the GM can no longer evaluate talent effectively. I don't think he should've been offered a contract but if the Wings make the playoffs or not, I blame Cleary for nothing.

Los Angeles Kings TYRION LANNISTER - Full of personality, often overlooked to the detriment of others, and always comes out on top in the end. Spends a lot of time drinking out of cups. Absolutely ******* awesome!! My favorite charcter too.

I called and canceled my half-season ticket plan yesterday over voice mail as well as gave my great displeasure, directly but professionally, over the mismanagement and lack of professionalism of this organization. I actually received a follow up this morning from the head of ticket services telling me, "If you don't believe in the vision or management style of the best GM in sports, perhaps you might think about following another team". I can see they really value the fans.

Good on him. Like I said, I don't like this signing but I sure don't blame Cleary for wanting to come back and play for the Red Wings. And he is one of the toughest and most fearless players on the team. The ice packs are from years of going to the parts of the ice Franzen is scared to.
