Losing babs for say someone other than Blashill could actually bring a whole different change. Coaching style is an important aspect in this league. If we end up with the likes of Tortorella (just an example), that could dramatically change the locker room and on-ice work ethic and discipline. Our best bet is Blashill because he's been groomed to work in the same system as Babs. I still think Babs is the best option. Except of course the options are his to take not the Wings. The point is, there will definitely be a change in atmosphere with a new coach. Good or bad, who knows. But a coaching change does have an big impact. Especially in this league.

    TSN Play of the Year

Can we make it 3 years in a row? We have 2 entrants this year, Zetterberg with a goal of the back of Mazanek's head, and Nyquist's 28 second goal vs Ottawa (I assume, it's not up for voting yet.) Head over to TSN now to vote for Zetterberg If you use Google Chrome you can follow these instructions to vote for you without you having to click the button every 5 seconds. First hit "F12" it will open up a menu, on the top of the menu there is a button for "console" click that and paste the following on the command line. setInterval(function(){$("#page-wrapper > div > div > section.plays > div.match-play.ng-scope.left-play > button").click()},6000)

If Douchecic could score like that still, he would. He's one of those guys who have a couple good years then stop doing what it was that got them there.

How many top pairing D-men and large goal scorers have you seen move teams in the last 4 years? Out of the 1 or 2, we had a 1 in 30 chance of securing them.Frankly, It's not as outrageous that we didn't fill that need as you make it sound.

It is the motor city... and we do have a tire for a logo lol

I agree 100%. My post was directed at us using Blashill 100%, and if Holland goes and signs anyone else my god... Not yet. Holland hasn't stopped pumping the tires. The Locker Room interview, he said we were leaking oil. Is our team a ******* car?

Does this come as a surprise to anyone? He would be foolish not to take himself to market to see what the actual going rate for his services is. That will inform how negotiations with Detroit will go moving forward. Doesn't mean he's leaving.

    Franzen on IR

Not sure that would be a good idea. Players that didn't want to retire would just lie about having concussions. Also, it would be to hard to come up with a number since concussions have different levels of severity and are hard to measure. I also think they should have control of when they want to stop. They have doctor's advising them on their health. Some kind of concussion relief fund would be good, though. For Franzen's case, he would still get paid, right, if he went on LTIR.

Semin has been so bad that Carolina was thinking of buying him out.
  17. 1 point
Nope, he regressed to his old ways again, big time.
  18. 1 point
Well I certainly don't disagree with that. But I think this is slightly different. He's overpayed, overvalued, and underproducing. No need to acquire a guy like that just because he's "real big" and "real tough". He's a bad player and his own team is dying to get rid of the guy. That should tell you something.

Speaking of big guys who are totally awesome, and could help the Wings; have you heard of this guy Brian McGratton? He's an AHLer in Calgary's organization and is just the kind of power forward that Detroit needs to A) keep the rats at bay, B) deter cheap shots against our stars, and C) create space for Dats and Zetterberg. Just a thought. Ya know, because he's the biggest Laffy Taffy of them all.

Lucic is a piece of s***. An absolute scumbag. I don't give a damn how good of a player he is, it would be an embarrassment to have him in a Wings jersey. There's a lot of players I hate that would be great on the Wings and I would be more than happy to suck it up and bring them in (Weber, et al) but Milan "Human Garbage Can" Lucic is not one of them. f*** that guy.

The Wings need a top pairing d-man and some size/goal-scoring ability at wing. - This post brought to you by the years 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

I know on paper Phaneuf makes a fair amount of sense. I've just never liked the guy. He's one of those players for me where my dislike is based mostly on a gut feeling and not anything rational. That he's somehow like a Jack Johnson. A talented guy who on paper should be great, but when you put him in a defense they somehow get worse (thought I think that's changed somewhat for Johnson in Columbus).

What if we got Johnny Gaudreau??? Hell lets trade for McDavid while we're at it! Oh yeah, forgot, none of these things will ever happen.
