    ROY according to LGW

The NHL Rookie of the Year according to LGW Because we're less biased than the NHL Here are some of the candidates: Artemi Panarin Like the on-ice version of the date-rape drug, Panarin has quickly made a name for himself helping Kane score. He currently leads NHL rookies in GOALS, ASSISTS, and POINTS. And while he's only one goal ahead of Larkin for the rookie lead, he's about a mile ahead of the competition in assists and also points. He's also leading the league in power play points. In short, the guy puts up numbers. Including age numbers! At 50 years old, he just barely made the rookie cut-off. Harry Potter Dylan Larkin At 19 years old, Larkin somehow convinced Holland that dropped balls weren't necessary to play in the NHL and hasn't looked back. He's been consistently among the top rookie goal scorers in the league, and locked up the rookie +/- back in November. In a season where the Wings' production has been down across the board, Larkin has also made a strong case for team MVP now that Drew Miller's season is effectively over. Max Domi NORTH AMERICAN SKATER Sufferer of perpetual forehead acne and being the son of "that one guy" as they say in Phoenix Las Vegas Portland Arizona, Max Domi has been a large reason why the Coyotes are still in the playoff hunt despite featuring on ice talent such as Shane Doan, Kyle Chupacabra, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Hanzal, and literally nobody else you've ever heard of before. He's also consistently in the running for "runner up behind Panarin" for ROY. Probably would win bro of the year award based on some of his pics. Jack Eichel Everyone's favorite rookie ginger got off to a slow start compared to those rookies who weren't supposed to win the Calder this year (see: anyone not named McDavid or Eichel) but has been as hot as that hair more recently. In fact, he and Larkin were tied for points going into the Wings/Buffalo game. However as the final buzzer went off, Larkin skated away up two more points, while Eichel skated away up one tooth. As far as draft consolation prizes go, Eichel has been solid, and more importantly, not injured. Colton Parayko At 6'6", 226lbs, this hulking defensman has made his presence known. However, in the year of the rookie, Parayko has gone largely unnoticed. He's second in +/-, leads all defensman in points, and is logging some solid minutes for the St. Louis Blues. But because defense isn't really a thing with NHL awards, he'll probably be left off the ballot. OTHER NOTABLES: Conner McDavid! Shayne Goatheistberry or something Anthony Duclair Landon Ferraro Who will win this year??? ITS ANYONES GUESS

This might be the most inactive GDT i've ever seen in all my time here. Good W tonight, Larkin saves our bacon yet again, without his emergence this season who knows where we would be sitting right now. So many big clutch moments out of this kid, I love it.

Just got in from date night with my wife. Glad to see the offense pop three with a multipoint game from Dylark and Petr getting a well deserved shutout. NerveDamage, you did an awesome job with the GDT pic.

    Bravo, Smitty

So... IN THE PLAYOFFS? How'd we even make it there with Smitty in the lineup? Gee. I don't want to belabor this point. He makes mistakes. So does every defenseman in the league before, after, and including TPH - Niklas Lidstrom. Saying that Smith alone is going to keep us from the playoffs is hyperbole to the Nth degree. We know Smith ain't that bad if kip is here to defend the guy!

    ROY according to LGW

I'm gonna say as long as evrryone stays on their current pace, it's gonna go to panarin simply because I don't think the voters will put much stock into the fact that Larkin is doing it without patty "waste of a human" Kanes amazing production, and the fact that he is 24 and played professionally already. So 1st:panarin 2nd:Larkin 3rd: Domi I also realllllllllyyyyyy wish we had parayko. Edit:I just read through your whole post, and kudos. It's effin hilarious

    ROY according to LGW

I'm going to guess and say the NHL will give it to CONNOR MCDAVID! As high as you can get on a player even while he's injured. or Dylan Larkin Cuz I'm not biased

My understanding is that teams put in their claim during the 24 hour period and at the end the team lowest in the standings that made a claim gets the player. So no matter what a decision wouldn't be made until tomorrow at noon.

the activity in the gdt would've been a lot different if they'd lost. Let alone larkin, Nyquist and Tatar saved our a**es a couple of seasons ago and helped us into the 23rd straight playoff appearance. So all the ground work they do in the Griffins and Toledo are keeping us in thus far. imo

Love this, Smith has probably been playing his best hockey as a Wing and you want him to sit for what reason? E i totally agree with.

WTF. Are the camera guys and the sound guys all drunk or high today? First the aspect ratio, then the weird zoom ins, now the break songs running in the background...

Worst 2 min of PP I have ever seen only because it's clear nobody wants to shoot or has any idea what to do once we get the puck into the offensive zone. Just bad.
