Hell No! Trading Mrazek would be dumb in my opinion, and regardless of what Mick said, Holland definitely isn't shopping him. No way do you trade a goalie with Mrazek's potential, unless it's straight up for a young, number one defenseman (and that's not happening).

Saturday was my final trip to The Joe, I went with SDavis35 and his wife. On the ride down I figured it was my 20th game. After Saturday's win, the Wings were 10-3-1-6 when I was at The Joe. I saw lots of OT losses Time to embarrass myself, I took lots of pictures and videos. I recorded the entire OT, and shootout along with singing South Detroit. Here's the shootout. Enjoy my bad camera work, loud cheering and booing, and horrible singing. Great way for me to say goodbye to The Joe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhCvOGrAZYE

I brought up Florida because you conveniently left them out since at the time they wouldn't fit in to your narrative. Funny how they have a good week and all of a sudden you bring them up. Making a coaching change doesn't automatically make your team better and guarantee a surge, the idea that it works 99% is just incorrect. If a team is struggling and their coach is not clicking, and they replace the coach with a better coach, are they more likely to play better? Of course, but that is just common sense, your original statement of "doesn't everyone see it doesn't matter who you replace coach with 99% of time it work" is just simply wrong, especially the "it doesn't matter who you replace them with" part. Change doesn't make a team better, improvement does. What you are advocating is that change of any kind automatically leads to improvement. Do you honestly not see the flaw in that line of thinking?

In that case it's Ott hands down, everytime, ten times outta ten. Prime Ott > Any Glendening (including future)

Dude, did everyone give Zetterberg a mini ovation before his shootout!? That's crazy! I enjoyed the video, will be good memories for sure.

Benn - Scheifele - Mantha Athansiou - Larkin - Zetterberg Nyquist / Tatar - Nielsen - Jurco Sheahan - Helm - Abdelkader How do we get Benn and Scheifele? THAT'S the trick...

Here I am to rain on your parade. Sorry. Please take the trade talk out of the GDT. Gee, if only there was another topic that stuff could be posted in.....

Regardless of whether you want to trade Mrazek or Howard, I think it's a good idea to acquire a legitimate backup for next season (unless the organization is still in tank mode). I don't trust Coreau enough to potentially shoulder half the season, and I don't trust Mrazek to be consistent for the majority of the season, and I don't trust Howard to be healthy for the majority of the season.

I have to give Smith credit. He actually had a decent game.

    Marchenko ?

I agree with that. I was thinking if we got him back at a low cap hit, we could send him back to the Griffins as nothing more then a depth d-man/AHL vet, though I doubt he would want to do that.

    Glendening vs Ott

I'm not real sure why Glendenning is on this team let alone signed to the contract he's on. Ott every time.

    Glendening vs Ott

Ott is a better hockey player, and is on a better contract - one year, close to league minimum, you know, the way 4th liners should be paid. Glendening is way overpaid, both dollars and term, and is not a very good hockey player. I wouldn't have either on my team, but if I had to choose, it would be Ott every time...

I've heard rumblings about a Mrazek trade as well, but a lot a lot of it is speculation. Just going over options, etc. A Howard/Coreau tandem, to me at least, leaves too many question marks. Injury prone inconsistent veteran and young AHLer who may or may not be ready to be in the NHL full time. If Mrazek was moved i'd hope they'd look elsewhere for a better option. But why put your team in that position to begin with? If you can draft a goalie like Mrazek, you hold on to him. As for the trade for a 1st, depends what draft number and which draft. This season's draft is weak.

I know I wouldn't be happy. Why would you trade a goalie who entered the season as your starter and future in goal, who, while he's had an up and down season on and up and down team, has got it back together and is playing unbelievable hockey right now (that save on Daley tonight..holy s***!), is only 24 and has the potential to be one of the elite in the league when you are a rebuilding franchise? Not to mention Howard isn't in game shape and probably shouldn't attempt to play until next season, and at 32, his injuries will only become more frequent and we're always left guessing how he will play when he does return from those injuries. And Coreau, while solid for a bit, eventually showed he isn't ready for anything more than an NHL backup role at most right now. In all reality, he should go back to the AHL for more work on his game, but he can't. Trading Mrazek would accomplish nothing, since he won't bring anything major in return, and it will only create another big problem. Wouldn't put it past Holland to make a dumb move like that though. Lol

I wonder what Mrazek can get us in a deal. If it was something really nice then I'd go for it. But if the return is crap then I'd rather invest our time with him and focus on trading Vanek, Smith, Green.

    Trouba or Pick

Here's my opinion. Getting a 1D in the draft is always a hit or miss because defensemen have weird development. Getting a 1C in the draft is usually guaranteed to be good if they are in the top 5 pick. So I would: Trade Larkin for Trouba 1 for 1. Draft Nolan Patrick. Done. Just kidding you know we ain't getting Patrick. But let's say we get the 3rd pick at worst this year. I draft Vilardi and wish Dylan Larkin well and go visit Trouba in his Rochester home in Michigan this summer when he moves back. Maybe buy him a welcome home present or something. My point is Vilardi, Patrick might be in a weak draft class but they will most likely be better centers than Larkin. Whereas if you keep Larkin and try to draft a 1D, you never know what you'll get. Could be hit or miss.

    Gustav Nyquist Hearing

I agree with the majority of this with the exception of the bold part. History has to play a part in suspensions. The analogy you used of "Are you going to give someone a slap on the wrist for assault just because they haven't done it before?" of course should not be the case, however, if you have a person who is a repeat offender and has assaulted multiple people, IMO should be punished more then a person who is a first time offender. I think the big issue here is that the NHL does not hand out harsh enough punishments, so players keep doing it AND they treat star players differently then the average player. I have said it before, if you want to take the crap out of the game you need harsher consequences. For example, if you want to take head-shots out of the game, make it a 41 game suspension for elbows to the head. Guarantee that cleans up the game dramatically. Problem is the NHL and NHLPA will never agree to something like that as the PA will fight it thinking it is unfair to players (which is ironic), and the NHL will not want to risk losing money if it happens to stars.
