April Fool! None of the regulars has posted a GDT! Everyone must be watching the Madness that is March (in April).

We are a bad hockey team. So sorry fans at the Joe. There are more Leafs fans there anyway, from the sound of it. What a shame....

Maybe, but ultimately anything he says is going to be "PR". Blah blah blah I want win the Cup every year, blah blah blah Billy's GM let him win the Cup, blah blah blah I hate you, Kenny, dumb doodoohead!

Fedorov was one of the best players in the NHL in his prime. The fact that he wanted to get out of Detroit for so long tarnishes him a bit, but I think eventually 91 goes up. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are linked together, I think either they both go up or neither does. Osgood is #2 in just about every category in Wings all time goal tending stats and is pretty under rated. Too many people put all of his success on the team in front of him, but then heap praise on Roy, Brodeur, Fuhr, et. al. ignoring the fact that they put up their numbers behind great teams as well. Yes, Osgood let in some bad goals, but so did everyone else (Patty Wah Statue of Liberty play anyone?) and when he did, he came back even stronger. That OT goal from center ice against Dallas was followed by a shutout. He still doesn't go up though. He turned down a big deal, held out, and signed an offer sheet from a non playoff team designed to make it extremely difficult for Detroit to match after saying he'd never play for Detroit again, then as soon as he hit UFA status he bolted to somewhere he could be the man. He wanted out.

Dear NHL.tv, F*** you. Dear NHL Network, F*** you.

I wanted to watch. The s***-heads from the NHL put this one on NHL.Network. I cannot get that here. I also cannot find a stream. I give up. It's been like this ALL SEASON. Center Ice is horrible, I have seen exactly five games this season on that service, thanks to mismanagement. Happy for you if you can watch. I can't. Go Wings!

Man I'll be so glad when this season is over. It's getting annoying now.

We can't even play spoiler. Appropriate since we give so many their first NHL goal or break their droughts.

If he gets a goal then my prediction will come true, especially on April's fool day.

Dickie and Jonas get -1 for their terrible rebuttals today.

Well for for argument's sake, I'm starting to think that jersey retirement is completely subjective. The owners get to decide. And Fedorov managed to piss off the owners not once but twice. So in essence it seems as though you have to: 1. Be a HoF worthy player and possibly put up a lot of significant numbers for the franchise. 2. Be on the owner's good side, it's his/her franchise at the end of the day.

Only #40. Same reason to raise it as for #5.

Great rebuttal. I don't think you understand the relationship between the GM and ownership and PR.

Does it matter? He's making a public statement and it's probably one that the owners share. You would be a fool to think Holland is saying something against ownership opinion. Jeff Moss is a clown.

If there's any confusion, my post to bump this thread quotes Holland saying that "Zetterberg's jersey will go on the rafters". If this really is Holland's quote then it's 100% that #40 will be retired. The question now remains of #91, #13, #30

I think a bit like Legs 2 posts above. The only one possibly eligible is Henrik Zetterberg but that depends on how he ends his career. His book is not quite written yet. He is clearly a star and has shown supreme will, both to combat a very serious back injury and to will himself to be the best player on the team despite losing his speed after that back incident at the age of 36. That's some good stuff. It was clear that he could not drive this group to the playoffs but he still gave it his all. If he keeps this up for the duration of his contract and doesn't decline too much I think he has earned the right to hang next to the greatests. Barely.

I'm glad we didn't sign Parise and Suter, and I was saying it at the time too. With the cap, we would have had to build our team around those guys for 10 years. Suter on his own, would have been fine, but not both.

    Time for a reset/restore

While I agree that Holland will probably re-sign him if he feels he can play, but he'll probably do the 1 yr at a time thing like with Lidstrom. You fill it with nobody big. You play your youth and have some cap space for once in our cap history in case you're at that point where you need to acquire that one or two players at the deadline. Having cap breathing room is not a bad thing in a reset/rebuild.
