That's precisely why he's a good pickup. He'll be part of the injury cycle with Kronwall, Ericsson. Sproul and XO won't have issues playing

    Zetterberg assists this past season

When I think of players with elite vision in setting up players I usually think of Joe Thornton or Sidney Crosby. But this past season Z seriously put himself up there amongst both of them with some of the most ridiculous passes and seeming knack for being 2 steps ahead of the play before it happens. Someone made a dedicated video for this on youtube. Check it out. As a side note, Mantha's wrist shot is crazy good.

Oh, it’s hardly upsetting. It’s the pure hilarity of it all at this point. Only this team is this silly at this point. We make less trades than any other team in the league by a large margin and these are the kind of moves we do.

Plus that is where he got his start. Played in Nashville from 2000-2007.

Please don't post in all caps like a kid that just caught his first Pikachu in Pokemon Go. I don't see much use for Daley outside of veteran leadership and helping us possibly squeak into a last place playoff seed for a first round elimination. Maybe they are in the mindset of at least making playoffs again temporarily for the sake of the new arena. I hate to be bitter like this, but it's just how I honestly feel right now. We need to focus on youth and development, see what we have and who will be in the roster long term.

I'm so excited! He was captain of the Force (my local USHL team) and he is quite the fighter and all around good guy. He was a d-man here, but was offensively capable. Good Michigan boy. I always hoped he'd play for us.

It's acceptable, if Kronner or any other defenseman isn't going to play for a big chunk of the season. I like his skillset and what I read about his locker room presence. I also don't have a problem with the NTC, it's what you pay for a relatively cheap contract for a 33y old defenseman.

I have to say, I am quite surprised by the lack of rage regarding this deal. Sounds like this is a deal nobody "loves" but nobody outside of the usually cynical "hate" it. I would have preferred to let the kids play, but the more I read about it the more I'm becoming ok with it. Would look a lot better if guys like E, Kronwall, etc. were not under contract.

Is that what he signed for? Then yeah, priced himself cheap for a shot at a Cup at this point in his career. Good for him, chasing the hardware instead of the cash. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Old guy, check. Multiple years, at least one year too long, check Prevents a younger player from getting a spot, Check Typical Holland deal Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk Never sign a player to a multi year deal that takes him past 35. Wheels fall off before then. Yes, he can skate now. By year 2 or 3 probably not so much. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

    McCollum back

Hahahaha f***in Holland and his love of former Wings/Griffins. Let's him walk after he was a bust first rounder, then he had a tryout with the Kings, released. Calgary signed him, sent him to the AHL, where he was eventually demoted to the ECHL. Then loaned to another AHL team. Another mind boggler by Holland. Waste of a pick, even if it is a 7th. Always good to have a player who can play both F and D in case of injuries. Just ask Meech.

At least we got the modified NTC for the final year, when we could possibly be sellers for Daley's contract... Not thrilled by this signing, but not disgusted by it either. I'm just concerned about the possible backlog of Jensen/Ouellet/Sproul if our 1-5 is healthy.

As much as we all love it, in the US hockey is a niche sport.

I was hoping we'd get him. One of the few reasons I didn't throw things when Pissburgh won again. (Cullen being the other.) Reasonable contract, I'd say, all things considered. We've been begging Holland to give us help on the D and he did. Witkowski will be playing F, but can play D if needed when/if injuries arise.

I'm ok with it. Our veteran defenseman after this season would be Ericsson and Dekeyser. Everyone ok with those two being the leading example of our young defensemen? 3 mill is not bad at all.

How many As went to Manthas blade this season, and Larkins last season? Bet its many for both. I feel like Zetterberg has been somewhat overshadowed by Datsyuk since our last final run. And I feel like he received a lot more appreciation this year, as our last superstar (for the time being). He's a machine, hes good for 1 assist on more nights than not, and thats with a broken back he mentally wills to functionality. And hes handsome as hell.
