That is a really interesting article. He comes off really well and seems to contradict the negative reports about him. The So it raises the question of whether Khan did a hack job on his character. All the talk of attitude problems did come from his article, and - if you read it again - the attacks can just be written off as Khan's personal conjecture. For instance, the title was very straightforward "Detroit Red Wings exposed Petr Mrazek due to performance, attitude" like it was a statement from the team, but then in the article most is modified as Khan's own perceptions: "The Red Wings seemingly soured on Mrazek due to a combination of performance and attitude." He had no stated sources. Statements like "Mrazek was not happy the Red Wings were unable to trade Howard in the off-season and let the club know in less-than-tactful terms." are without explanation or confirmation of any type. The only vague source is "some in the organization": "Mrazek has always had a swagger and air of confidence, which appealed to the Red Wings. But sometimes he's too cocky for his own good, some in the organization believe. He became increasingly difficult to coach last season, they said." That even sounds like it's speculation on the part of the source. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2017/06/red_wings_left_petr_mrazek_unp.html Or maybe Khan's a homer and was trying to make Mrazek look unattractive to Vegas so we could keep him? haha. Anyway, who knows. Just hope he bounces back and becomes the goalie I think he can be. Even if he had some issues nothing really seemed that big anyway.

I'd be okay with that. Trade him by Christmas for an upgrade on D.

Blashill and Holland seem to be valuing hard work and character over skill. That's when it's an issue. Between grinders being overpaid on deals that are 2+ years too long, to Sheahan on the PP when he hadn't scored a goal, and all the other BS we saw, it's gotten ridiculous Sent by my minions via telepathy

Really? He already had 29 in 14-15. He had 25 this year, despite battling the shoulder injury all year and despite our powerplay being non-existent. At 26, he should be headed into his prime so I wouldn't expect his best numbers to be behind him. To me, he's absolutely gonna hit 30, if he's paired with a good center. People have made a lot of the fact that he scored a lot of his goals near the end of the season, but haven't mentioned that's when he was put with Zetterberg. He's definitely a complementary player - put him with Z or Larkin (if he's figured out the center position) and it'll be good for him and for the team's scoring. Put him with a struggling Sheahan like the majority of 15-16 and it won't work.

    Keith Petruzzelli

Red Wings Got A Special Goalie In Petruzzelli Forget Mrazek and Howard. This kid could be the future of this team in net, and our best pick of the 2017 draft. He was ranked as the #1 NA goalie midway through last season, ending the season at #2. Red Line Report had him ranked as the 33rd best player in the entire draft. He also won the Dave Peterson award for best USA goalie this past season. At development camp he allowed 0 goals during the lone scrimmage and stopped every single shootout attempt as well. He will play on a very good Quinnipiac University team this year. Looking like we got our very own Ben Bishop

    Main camp ptos?

I think it would be unlikely but not out of the question. Maybe a team with an awful defense like New Jersey or Buffalo would take a chance on him. Although there are other options available in free agency, like Markov (if he doesn't retire), Franson, Wideman and Michalek. There also may be options coming from Vegas if they're looking to waive or trade some of their defensemen. I still say the best option for us regarding Ericsson, is to trade him. I think a team could be interested in taking him along with a pick or prospect. It's a moot point though because Holland probably still sees him as a top 4 defenseman...

    Ken Holland contract extension watch

Ya personally I dont want a tank job, but I don't like how many vets/long term contracts they have. If I was the GM I wouldnt have signed Helm, not because I hate the contract, but because collectively with the other contracts it's too much. I wouldn't have signed Abby for 7 years (would have offered 5 max), I wouldn't have signed Nielsen, and I would have offered Glendenning closer to 1.2 mil per year. I think there is a way to re-build on the fly, but you have to take some risk.

A big body in front of the net only works when they play like a big body. Sheahan is softer than melted butter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think that's more indicative of this team's overly devoted system to have a low skill/big body for net front presence on every single power play unit. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but if you have way better players to put on the PP play them.

Ya it's sad seeing guys like AA who can rip down the ice and score some highlight goals stuck on the bench because of concerns over work ethic. I don't care wtf Sheahan does off the ice. He went scoreless until the final game of the season, and probably only scored those two goals because of a concentrated effort by the team to get him set up for them so he'd at least have something. They should have let him finish with 0. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Found the roughly translated article. He says everything bad he's heard about his game has come from the press. He's never had a face to face with the coaches or Holland about it. And on the trade topic, he says he never got any sort of hint whatsoever he'd be traded. Holland never spoke to him once about it. Says he knows he can't repeat last season, must be much better. He's learned from it, has to focus on every shot. http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/roughly-translated-an-interview-with-petr-mrazek Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well, I have seen other articles to this effect. One that I'm sure you can find if you search had links to Mrazek's instagram and this video that apparently he posted the day after being exposed (and the article guessed it was to send a message):

Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals

Well, considering he made $2.75 it would be nearly a $2M increase. But, that contract was a hometown discount, hge signed that after Nyquist got his. Then after he signed it, Abby and Helm got way overpaid. I understand the reasoning behind what he wants, but there just isn't any cap. That's Holland's fault. He needs to trade away some cap. We needed to lose $4M at expansion PLUS trade away about $12M in mediocre cap space. One of our goalies, Nyquist, Helm and Ericsson. None of which we'd miss and are all replaceable from within. If Holland would take better care of his house, we wouldn't be in this situation, but he still thinks that these players will get better even though they get older, so he hangs on to them....for far too long.

If he goes to arbitration with the numbers as they were reported, he'll more than likely land around 4.75 million. That puts him in the league with Palmieri, Williams, Nyquist, Hornqvist, Soderberg, Bozak, Johansson... Those all seem very appropriate.

Hahaha.... the best player on this team scored 46 points last season and most of his goals came after we were obviously eliminated. Zetterberg and Mantha are the best players currently. If Larkin can bounce back, he'll be better than Tatar as well. Tatar does not deserve to make nearly as much as Zetterberg. Tatar should be making between 4.5 and 5 million. If that 5x5 offer was real and he turned it down, he's an idiot.

Palat got $5.3 x 5 and consistently hovers around 50 - 60 pts per season. Tatar hovers around 40 - 50 pts per season but scores more goals, whereas Palat notches more assists. I think $4.5 to $5 is fair. So basically Nyquist.

Think Coraeu's size with Mrazek's agility. Watched him play 1 game last year. Very agile. Yes it was the USHL but him and Svechnikov were by far the 2 best players on the ice for the Jacks.

This isn't directed at solely you by any stretch, but is this going to be a thing now? Are we going to pretend like things such as character and leadership are worthless? I agree that a team needs to find a balance between skill, character, style, and chemistry but to act like character is a joke and that Holland is an idiot for valuing it is just wrong. I agree with the notion that if you have all character and no skill your team will get killed, but I feel this is just another instance of fans who are upset with Holland finding anything to rip him for. If you just want to rip Holland, he has made a ton of mistakes, its not hard.

Kenny, I have good character and I am a hard worker. I am terrible at hockey, but I have "good character" can you please sign me. When I have no goals all season at least you can say I am "good locker room presence"
