He's 26, and coming off a 25 goal campaign while playing hurt the entire season. Unless the surgery went poorly and he lost mobility in his shoulder which is very unlikely because I'm sure Holland has been receiving medical reports, there is no reason to think he will regress other then because fans are playing the "everything is going to go wrong" card.

I strongly believe Poile is one of, if not the best GM in the league and has been for quite some time. He has made some of the best trades in recent years, great at drafting, great at negotiating contracts. Nashville should be in great shape under him for a long time.

Makes sense. Job is Howard's to lose again. The controversial part I think is the comfort level with Coreau. He was worse than Mrazek last year yet theyre comfortable with him playing 20 to 30 games as Howards backup? I'm not quite on board with that yet. This team is making it very clear theyre prepared to move forward without Mrazek in the mix. He royally pissed off the organization somehow, wish we knew what he did.

Holland is not that smart. No. If Holland trades AA it'll be for a 35 year old defenseman. Holland can't make a move to save his life, if he does, he f***s it all up. AA should already be as untouchable as Mantha.

100% agree with you. So many people dismiss the long term effects of the buyout, just look at what the Weiss buyout is doing to us right now, a 2.6 mil caphit for nothing. A trade with salary retention is the smartest move if Holland wants to rid him self of E. With that being said, I dont think he does.

They need the space just to sign AA and bring in a 23rd player for near league minimum, not sign Vanek Sent by my minions via telepathy

They could but won't, and shouldn't in my opinion. Trade him and retain salary. Better to have a million or so of his contract on the books for another three seasons, rather than six...

Oh I know, Vanek is a pipe dream and I'm almost certain the way things are shaping up AA will somehow be sent down or traded. Just funny when someone actually does perform they are quickly off the team and I'm stuck watching Abdelkader, Helm and Sheahan all night.

Your tone makes it sound like you feel the Wings are disrespecting AA, but in reality for a RFA who is not arbitration eligable, this is normal practice.

So we’re going to get impatient with Mrazek who’s had higher NHL highs than Howard ever has had at a younger age than Howard was when Howard got his “last chance” and finally got his s*** together? Makes sense. I’m not saying Mrazek is the savior and he could disappear to Europe in no time, but he’s a better long term bet than Howard, and we’re not in a position to be gambling. If a brittle 33 year old Howard who’s consistently floundered in the playoffs (when healthy...) is our best shot, you’re in serious trouble. You bet on youth when you’re prospect-poor and you’ve got a goalie that’s shown extended glimpses of pure elite brilliance. It’s simple as that.
