Never. Wings don't bring back Holland, next year fans all complain that the new guy is worse while claiming to have supported Holland all along. Out of spite, Chris sells the team to Vince McMahon, who makes them the cornerstone of the new XHL. Just like regular hockey, but with teams occasionally jumping onto the ice during a rival team's game and delivering a few chair shots when the refs are distracted.

that is a good read. it also shows that loyalty may continue to kill this team

We are all getting hopeful for Monday, but I have a feeling this will be Holland and his staff come 3PM

Exactly my thoughts. But people here are too busy screaming that we at least got 4th round pick for someone who is going to leave anyway forrgetting what is the actual reasons for this mess.

Funny, Brutal article on the Sens: http://nationalpost.com/sports/hockey/nhl/ottawa-senators/whole-situation-there-is-f-ed-up-unimaginable-months-ago-senators-might-trade-karlsson Best line "A team that was a goal away from reaching the 2016-17 Stanley Cup final has spent the past 12 months systematically destroying everything that was once good about the roster. A toddler kicking apart a sand castle has shown more restraint." "Erik Karlsson, a defenceman so special that a year ago GM Pierre Dorion said God created him on the eighth day, could be gone in the next two days. In doing so, the Senators are in the process of robbing their fans of a two-time Norris Trophy winner who is not only regarded as the best defenceman in the NHL, but is arguably one of the top-three players, in general." Not even Judas would have been this cruel." Seems fare though. They do seem to be among the worst run teams in my opinion. Seems every worthwhile NHL player they draft is lost and they haven't been able to do much with the returns: Hossa, Zibanejad, Silfverberg, Spezza, Vermette, Havlat, Fischer, Kelly, and now Karlsson?

That's why I said in my 2nd post I'm on the fence about re-signing Green. Wish we hadn't signed Daley and then I'd be fine about re-signing Green.

Really? That's just 10 years from now, I could easily see guys like Larkin and Mantha here in 10 years. Even a guy like Bertuzzi could be here in 2028. If you go back to 2008 we still have a handful here.

Howard is not better than Mrazek. They both have their inconsistencies. Actually Howard is consistent, consistent at sucking after the All-Star break. Its just he is grossly overpaid and has another year on his contract so it would've been harder to trade. Plus Petr pissed in Holland's Wal-Mart brand Oatsie Rings so he was getting the ax before Jimmy anyhow. I still hope that Howard is gone before next year as well! Not unless the plan is, Petr steps it up, takes Philly to the ECF, we get the 2nd and the 2019 pick, Hextall doesn't qualify him, we dump Jimmy for a couple of pieces of burnt bacon, then sign Mrazek to a nice deal.....no?

I'm thinking it were that obvious that he was doing so, it would be illegal per CBA and NHL Rules. That is almost like circumventing the Cap in order to screw other teams. First of all, I am not sure if there is even a "cutting" process with the CB Rules and contracts. I guess he could waive him, but that would still be a glaring circumvention of the trade agreement and probably would be a hefty fine involved, maybe even trading privileges revoke for a period of time. Plus not only would Hextall screw his relationship with Holland, there are 29 other GM's that would take notice of that act and also refrain from dealing with him. If there are actual "fans" saying they actually think he would do that, then they don't know crap about the business aspect of sports and probably barely anything about the sport itself. These are the fans that get up and scream at the TV when the plays goes offside asking WTF did they blow the whistle for!?!?! ...will we draft a LH'd or RH'd Pitcher or go with a Short Stop?

Howard being better than Mrazek seems to be a theme on this board but I just don't see it. Howard is horrid and is the goalie that should have been given away.

In the final picture, it is nice to get something for the guy when he was going to leave UFA after not being qualified, but ya, before we had to settle for that result, the problem should have been addressed a long time ago. IMO, they should've traded Jimmy 2 seasons ago, but instead they handled the situation like bumbling idiots. Remember back when Hasek retired, we signed CuJo, then Hasek came back and that screwed everything up! What should've been a great experience for CuJo and us fans, turned out to be probably the worst experience CuJo could've had in his career! I mean we had him playing in the minors for pete's sake! I'm sure relations between those two became just as dicey as the relationship between Mrazek and Howard.

    Karlsson on the move?

Dorion is made out to be the idiot, but he's only been the GM these past couple years, and as you mention, trading away very good players has been a common theme for many years in Ottawa. That common theme is Eugene Melnyk, who has been the owner for the past 15 years. I don't understand purchasing a sports team, if you're not willing to spend the money to build a contender. It makes no sense. I've said it before, but Melnyk is probably the worst owner in all of professional sports. From the way he runs the team, to the dumbass comments he makes to the media about his team / players. Guy's a f***ing moron.

I can just see it: Wings vs Blackhawks. Wings down by 1 goal with 1min left, empty net, E has the puck behind his own net and he begins to skate, suddenly stops! "What is he doing" He shoots the puck in his own net! "Bah God! Bah God! These players have families! " He rips off his jersey only to be wearing a Blackhawks jersey underneath! Then that stupid Dah Dah Da Dah Da Da Dah song comes on the speakers as E joins his new team. It would be awesome!

Rather than copy multiple posts, I'll just respond all at once. First, the only UFA forward I am interested in going after July 1st is JT. If he signs somewhere else, move on. Maybe bring back Vanek on a 1 year deal to replace Booth, but that's it. Second, don't start just trading away players for anything to open up cap space. If you do and you don't get Tavares, than you may have to overpay more guys just to replace everyone you've already traded for peanuts. If you sign Tavares, then you trade away contracts for cap space. You will get less in return at that point because everyone knows u need to shed salary, but at that point-who cares?....You have friggin' John Tavares. Third, I'm still on board with bringing back Green. Kronwall probably plays only one more year, trade or waive Ouellet next season. Green won't be holding anyone down next season. I don't think anyone in GR is ready for full time NHL duty yet. By the time anyone is, there will be roster space available for them. After next season, Ericsson and Daley are on the last year of their deals. They could be traded to make more room if need be. The only way I would say don't bring back Green is if somehow KH gets JT and there is no cap room left after RFAs are signed.

Years from now, we wil need to remember that atleast this trade wasn't as bad as Chicago trading Dominic Hasek for the eventual return of Christian Ruttu. That said it could be in the ballpark.

No, but I would trade him for Leivo. Just click on the drop down arrow of the tweet, and then click "Copy link to Tweet". Then just copy and paste it in here.

Should trade Mike Green to Tampa for a first. Then send Tampa first and someone nyquist/Tatar rangers for McDonagh. I can't see him being Worth much more than that. Then re-sign green next year and your defense is looking much better

Everything in this post is pure speculation and bulls***. Also Jeff Salajko was Mrazek's goalie coach. Same guy that coached him in AHL. But you know, keep making excuses.
