I’d be interested in a gamble like puljujarvi but At this point I’d rather stick with our guys and see what we have I think Svechnikov is capable of putting in 15-20 depending on his linemates, he had a ton of upside when we drafted him and he’s been really unlucky with injuries so if he’s put that behind him he can put himself again as an important future piece for the redwings, we just have to find a way to dump some bodies If the second line was Athanasiou filppula Svechnikov with some ppl time I can see him netting 15-20 , anyways we should probably be giving our own guys more chances to succeed

Good luck with blackouts. Thats why I cancelled mine. Being in windsor half my games were blacked out because of local tv or some s*** that i dont get. They didn't understand I'm in a different country. So if I'm "illegally" using a vpn to stream games I paid to watch, then I'll do it without the money

Tkachuk had 90 sumthin pts this past season, and will likely be a consistent 80 plus pts from here on out. None of our guys outside of Larkin will come close to that production. Our 3 guys will be eligible for arbitration so that’ll keep things reasonable if they choose to go that route. I can see lil’Bert being the 1st to sign a 3 to 5 yr deal for sumthin in the range of $4 to $5 million per season...AA, and Mantha might be a different story.

For the record, I wouldn't trade him for Hronek either. My point is simply that even if he is top 50, that's still a top 2 guy offensively speaking (and calling him "top 50 is probably underselling him). He does move move the needle for a team on offense, that's all I'm saying.

I don't disagree with any of this. Virtanen won't be a Red Wing. Some team will pick him up though, if he is even on the trade block. It may work out. It may not. I just think it would be worth the gamble, assuming the cost is relatively low...

Gives them more scoring punch on the back end, eases some of that pressure off of Pietrangelo and Parayko, possibly boosts forward scoring. Makes sense that they'd make a big move like this if all it costs is a few whatever pieces. They just won a Cup (against pretty much All The Odds) and I'm sure they realize that they captured lightning in a bottle and that teams will be scouting them harder than ever and that they'll need to bring something new to the table if they want to repeat. I'm kinda disappointed we couldn't take Bokk off their hands. Was hoping we'd start collecting all the German Pokemanz. Alas... Maybe this increases Green's trade deadline value, if only by a bit. One less right-shooting veteran offensive defenseman on the market.

I have the same app on my phone that I think @Barrie does where basically an atom bomb goes off every time the Wings score so I always know the score unfortunately. But it's reminded me more than a few times that a game is going on when I'm doing something else way less important like spending time with my family.

Maybe it's only because I'm in Canuck land, but I swear Vancouver fans have become insufferable now that they have Pettersson. Edmonton fans seem to at least remember past pain and aren't overly cocky about having McDavid. Vancouver turned it up to Toronto level D-bagness the second they got a decent star player. You need twice as many high end defensemen (top 4) than you do high end centers (top 2). Also, we have one more established high end center (Larkin) than we do established high end defensemen (0). I'm high on (Seider), Hronek Cholowski and McIsaac, but there's still no guarantee any of them will be legit top pair defensemen, let alone number one defensemen. Lindstrom, Kaski and Regula may or may not even be regular NHLers. As a prospect I'd put Veleno ahead of all of those players, with the exception of maybe Hronek. Prior to this draft, our center depth could use a shot in the arm, but no more than our defense in my opinion. I think you're the one not following here... You pretty much reiterated what I just said, minus one key point (question)... Do you really think there were players available at 6 that Yzerman and co thought were better than Seider, but picked the lesser player anyway?

Would you trade Svechnikov for Aho? Probably not. The Red Wings like Svechnikov because they drafted him, and have never showed any interest in Aho because they had a chance to draft him and didn't...

Is that a legit rumour? Mantha for RNH? That would be a bad deal for us... we'd get older, smaller and more expensive. If we want a center, maybe consider Turris... the Preds apparently want out of his contract (which is bad) but he has good chemistry with Mantha at the worlds... and we might be able to send some salary back or leverage a 1st rounder for the cap relief.

The situation Yzerman was in in Tampa, is vastly different than the situation Holland was in and Yzerman is going into in Detroit. The Lightning were a perennial Cup contender. That team took time to build. There's no doubt in my mind that the Red Wings could be (will be) a perennial Cup contender in a few years as well, but it's not going to happen overnight. Don't rush it. Continue to draft and develop. Make some trades to improve the team. Don't massively overpay in free agency for two players that are soon to be past their prime. Sure, they'll have some good years, but by the time this team is truly ready to compete, they will both be 30+. With Karlsson, there's the injury concerns. With Panarin, there's the loyalty concerns. I really hope we stay far away from both of these guys...
