    Edler-Kesler Vs. Ehrhoff-Stewart

I don't get why people think Ehrhoff's contract is so bad. IT's just 4 million a year, and the cap is gonna keep going up. in 2-3 years a dman of his ability for that price is gonna be a steal. Who cares if it is a long contract. If he retires before it is out, the Sabres are on the hook for the cap penalty. Ehrhoff is literally the safest bet out there for this team on defense.

Martin St. Louis has been one of the most respected and well thought of players in the NHL for a very long time. I don't think he turned into a ****** bag overnight. Something happened, we don't know what it was. When it comes out, he might be the bad guy...which is fine. But currently there's no reason to think that a career class act all of a sudden decided to act like a baby.

    Naming the New Arena

They should name it. The house that Cleary Built.

We have a solid top six and an electric third line, even with some key forwards injured. We don't have a legitimate top four, even with a fully healthy D corps. Given that defense wins championships (see: Team Canada), we should be looking to bolster our blue line. Take care of the defense and the offense should take care of itself. (Indeed, the main reason why our offense has been sagging is that our blue line isn't driving and directing the attack like it used to, when we had an actual top four with not one but three all-star offensive defensemen playing monster minutes.)

This is a trade discussion thread. There is nothing wrong with talking about Kesler. If you don't want him here, fine. Doesn't mean the rest of us can't discuss 'what if' scenarios.

Once Snow comes down from being high on glue he will have to worry about the 20 or so Islander fans lynching him.

This thread a train wreck. Everyone stay on the topics of trades. No personal insults, excessive sarcasm. If you have to "attack" leave out insulting language and STICK TO ARGUED POINTS. Some of you are making a valiant effort for real discussion. The rest of you, drop the bickering.

    Edler-Kesler Vs. Ehrhoff-Stewart

I'm not clamoring for Kesler, but if the price was right. I wouldn't scoff at his acquisition. Ehrhoff is definitely my top pick for defensive pick-up for the playoffs. Wanted him when he was a free agent. Still want him now. His cap-hit is good for the type of player and potential that he has when playing for a good team. ...and I'm not a'scarred of his contract length. Keep this in mind his cap hit is a meager $250,000 more than Kyle Quincey. He has 6 goals and 23 assists on a s***ty Buffalo team. Kyle Quincey has 3 goals and 6 assists. Who wants to re-sign Quincey? Who wouldn't mind having Ehrhoff around for a few years? ...and I'm not that high on Edler. So, if I'm staying on topic: Stewart/Ehrhoff.

We can give him a job within the organization if he wants one. That would be fair. He is pretty much done in the NHL.

Snipit from the article:"Daniel Cleary did not practice Saturday due to an unspecified illness. He was limping and needed a cart to get from the dressing room to the parking lot." Someone say LTIR to clear up more space to acquire someone?

And yet you seemed pretty passionate about bringing in a 5th/6th D in Myers at 5.5m...

    Very Chris Very, Very Osgood...very

I know he's a rookie broadcaster, and he has said there's more learning and work to do. I think he's a great guy, always enjoyed his work on the ice, but find myself lately tuning into the opposing team's broadcast (I have NHL Center Ice). Everything is either good, very good, or very, very good. A player is playing well, very well, or very, very well. very, Very...very, very He needs to vary up his use of very. I would recommend he takes another broadcasting class to learn synonyms and different ways of expressing oneself other than to use the word very, all, the...time...

I'm assuming he'll be back. He addressed the question a few days ago and basically said he's leaning that way, another season with the Wings.

This. The opportunities to land a player of his caliber in a trade these days is very rare. He's a quirky dude, no doubt, but he can instantly make the Wings a major contender.

Can we stop with the Kesler talk? I really don't want him and it doesn't look like the Wings want him for the price. We need a defensman now more than anything else.

For what exactly? For another non Stanley cup, because Kesler is far from what they need. Yeah Shero go for it and waste another year of Crosby and Malkin. The penguins need defense and as long as they aren't improving their biggest weakness no offensive power is going to help them. Also Kesler would only be a number 3 center on their team just like here so no wax something like him accepts that.

I think most people would think it is common sense that a punch to the head is a head shot. This is a league where minor contact to the head in a hit is punished with supplemental discipline. I don't believe it is embarrassing to ask why there is not a league response merely because it was a punch rather than a body check. Neil ripped off the helmet and sucker punched an unwilling fighter. One that has just missed significant time due to a concussion. I think it's a situation that speaks to the precarious position the league is in with Head hits vs. Fighting, but I believe the line should be when two players are willing fighters.

Kesler is a center and with Weiss returning he would have to play the Wing, which I'm sure he can; do but that takes away from his face off advantage. I just think that Vanek probably more then Moulson would be a more natural fit. Having said that if Holland could get Kesler I would be over the moon.

    Question about Mantha

The great thing about Mantha is that he knows his weaknesses and understand he has to learn and get better. Kids with his skill and his credentials usually aren't like that. The kid has the right attitude, and no chance the Wings rush him to the main roster. He will be with the big club when he is ready.

    Question about Mantha

BB, welcome to the fun! Mantha will be in GR when his season ends. It has nothing to do with his talent. It is all about agreements between the NHL and CHL. Now when will he be ready to play in Detroit? None of us know. he could earn a spot in training camp next fall. Most likely he will be in GR to start the season. After that to many variables to know. Injuries could play a factor. production by other young players that will be in Detroit. But if mantha comes in and say scores 20 goals in his first 30 games, he could force his way up. he needs to develop his strength for the NHL. Currently he is listed as 6-5/205 by his Junior team. That is very thin. he does need to gain another 20 pounds of muscle-same with Jurco. 10-15 pounds for him would be awesome. So time will tell.
