    TANK IT! 2014-2015 Season

Yeah, I hope so haha Im actually on board with a Kronwall - Smith pairing. Have wanted it for awhile. Ericsson should be nowhere near the top 4. Im not exactly a Smith fan but he needs offensive situations in order to be at his best

    Franzen on IR

I think a lot of peoples' views on Franzen are skewed by a dislike of him, but I don't think it necessarily has to be the case here. Think of when Crosby went through his concussion problems. There was many speculations that his career was over. It was pretty was pretty irrational in Crosby's case after 2 concussions, but anything is possible since concussions are unpredictable and most people (myself included) know very little about them. With Franzen's case, we have been given so little information on how he was doing (until a day or 2 ago) so I think that may have contribute to people speculating. An absence of information always results in speculation. I originally assumed he be back after a game or two after he was out because it looked like he wasn't hit very hard at all to me. That's speculation of my own. I just think we're all kind of still in the dark with concussions. As for people speculating on Franzen having mental problems such as anxiety and such, I think that's the result a general dislike toward him. Also, the way some people interpret his "just want to get back to having fun" and "I'm not a goal scorer" quotes reflect biases against him.

    Nyquist's RFA Status

I think he'll get something somilar to Reilly Smith's new deal. 2-3 years at around 3-3.5.

Exactly. Would be unfair to the rest of the league. Probably lead to a worldwide shortage of goal netting, he'd wear them out so fast. Then you'd have spoiled Canadian kids stealing mosquito nets from Unicef, and frankly those kids in the Congo have enough problems. #thinkofthechildren

Once Marchenko is cleared he'll likely be reassigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins. The Red Wings appear set with the six defensemen they've used the past four games and there's no point having Marchenko around as a healthy scratch. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2015/03/red_wings_johan_franzen_has_go.html

When David clarson was scoring goals in new jersey he was doing so disproportionate to his skill level. Nevertheless, new jersey would have been stupid to move him to the fourth line. Same with Glendening if he were producing like that here.

Game and a half before Hank got hurt. And he had 6 shots. His gpg is the same as Helm and Franzen, not too far under Zetterberg, better than Weiss, Sheahan, or Glendening. G/60 better than Abdelkader. His fancy stats (however little they may be worth) are among the best in the league. His 82 game pace is 17-18g right now. Tatar had 4g in his first 14 games this year. 2g in his first 14 last year. Nyquist had 4g in his first 14 last year. Helm had 0g his first 14. Abby had 5g. Glendening had 1g. Zetterberg had 4. Cole had 4. He's probably not ready to handle top 6 competition (especially on the defense side), but he is not underperforming.

Helm has shown decent touch this season. Besides, if he skates around like a maniac and forechecks hard like usual, that's insanely valuable. Tatar and Pav will score on that line anyways. Pulkkinen can't get the puck to those two or create space anywhere near the level that Helm can.

This. I want him on the fourth line not because I hate him on the first, but because he makes the fourth so much better. There was one point where I thought we had an incredible fourth line when I watched them match up against other teams', now I cringe whenever they're out there.

    Franzen on IR

Wasn't the point of contention that people were quick to jump on the "Franzen is done forever" bandwagon as a result of their disdain for Franzen, and not because there was any reason to believe his career was actually threatened? That's what it seemed like (five pages ago, or whatever). If so, I think there's probably a lot of evidence to support this. For instance, this thread was started on January 8th. Most of the posts immediately following the creation of the thread didn't even address Franzen or his injury, and instead focused on Pulkkinen. By January 9th people were already speculating that Franzen was done forever, despite the fact that the nature of his injury hadn't even been disclosed. It seems naive to suggest that "wishful thinking" didn't play a role in how people responded to Franzen's injury. Which seemed to be Number9's point (if I'm reading it correctly). Sidebar: The irony is that we now know that folks were wrong to be so excited about Pulkkinen stepping in for the Mule. Franzen was having a good year (22 pts. in 30+ games), and Pulkkinen has struggled to find his consistency and seems unable to stand up to the physicality of the NHL game (both frequently used to criticize Franzen). We're actually a better team with Franzen, regardless of what the haters say.

Cement hands? You mean Helm who has 13 goals, 6th on the team, or Abdelkader who has 17, 4th on the team? Both are better than one dimensional Pulkkinen.

Yes it's important to play good defense but we have alot of good 2 way guys on the team .... I think if we have 4 lines with scoring threats it will cause headaches to other teams ... Mule on the 4th line playing against other 4th liners and bottom d pairs could get us big goals in key moments same with the 3rd line That being said Babcock loves miller so I dont think he wont go anywhere and the only chance pulkkinen stays is if he makes it hard for Us to send him down And besides no idea if mule returns and if someone will get hurt (knock on wood) so we'll have to wait and see

It's not just the people though. For one, places that don't get snow often usually deal with more ice. Ice is much more dangerous than snow. Secondly, the cities are not equipped to deal with it. No salt trucks, etc. People also don't have winter tires in the South. Northerners just like to think they are superior for some reason. Not to mention I've been in Michigan in winter, nobody could drive in snow there either.
