No one was defending Weiss. It was noted that he was one of the top UFAs available, in respone to Richdg trying to argue that Holland is trying to build a team solely with drafting. No comment was made regarding whether it was a good signing or not and the only comment made on his performance here was me saying he hasn't met expectations. You then responded that the people who thought he was a top UFA were idiots, and you knew all along he'd be a bust. Fact is, no one knows s*** about the future. There were good reasons to think Weiss would be a good addition, and there were reasons to question it. Same goes for Clarkson, Clowe, Brunner, Alfie, Lecavelier, and anyone else who's ever been brought up. No one is smart for making a correct prediction nor stupid for making a wrong one. It's not like anyone was predicting anything ridiculous. Instead of analyzing the accuracy of past predictions, let's get back on on topic and make new predictions. Otherwise we won't be able to have any stupid arguments two years from now. Here's mine. This UFA class sucks and will be even worse come July.

What I find much more impressive is that he has 34 goals and 47 points in his last 28 AHL games. I hope he continues that same success through the rest of the playoffs and the Griffins win another Calder Cup. Hopefully he works his ass off in the summer and becomes a legit threat for the Wings next season.

The left wing lock is all about reducing scoring. he threatened to tradeStevie Y if he didn't start to play d. Federov was the same way. Which is why he went from 120 point seasons to 80 point seasons. Now if you are playing a defensive system to win, wouldn't you want to play the best defensive forwards? yes. Why have Z and Dat been stars for so long? Yes they score, but they are great defensively. Now look at our prospects and their development. What part of the game takes the longest to develop? defense. What have most on this site complianed about? Our prospects "overripening" in the minors. What are they learning to do? It isn't offense, it is D. That is Babs/Hollands plan. Play good D or don't play here. IE Hudler and many others.
