I don't get why you would think that Glendening would "follow Babs"... He's under contract with the Detroit Red Wings. He can't just decide to pack up his gear and move to Toronto, nor would he even if he could. There has been a lot of joking about trading Glendening to Toronto for Kessel or a 1st round pick or whatever because of how much Babcock loves him but he isn't going anywhere. I'm sure Holland and Blashill appreciate Glendening's game just as much as Babcock. He's here to stay and for good reason, he's a great 4th line shut down center.

Ill take Glendenning over Ferraro every day of the week.

I've been thinking about this too, was listening to MvsW the other week and they said Ovi was 9th in scoring since 1992 (NHL debut in 2005), fair to say he doesn't reach Gretzky but he might reach Bossy and Hull. Even if he doesn't, in an era where scoring is down, goalie pads are bigger etc he will surely go down as one of the greatest scorers the game has ever seen.

You lost me at McCollum, but I agree on Jimmy. We need a vet backup for Mrazek when the time comes. McCollum will likely be a career ahler who gets nhl time during injuries.

Slava Fetisov, former Red Wing defenseman and star of the wildly popular documentary "Red Army", wants Russian law to ban Russian hockey players from coming to the U.S. before their 28th birthday. You'll recall Fetisov's story. He bucked Soviet law preventing him from coming to the U.S. to play hockey, by refusing to play for their national team. In the documentary he explained how he wanted to be free to make his own decisions, make his own money, and determine his own future, without being coerced by federal authorities. And now he's a federal authority. And he's trying to restrict young players from having those very same liberties. Here's a thought Slava. Rather than using a draconian legal system to force people to stay against their will, how's about you work toward reforming said legal system, and equally restrictive and authoritarian economic policies, so that people will WANT to stay in your s***ty country. Exactly. I'm hoping both our goalies have a great year, so we can trade Howard in the offseason. Get a cheap, veteran back up next summer and yay cap space! Or even at the trade deadline if there is a non playoff team in need of a goalie with a player we could really use.

The best move would be to have a good chat with him the summer before the final year of his contract and see where his head is at. If he wants more than you can pay, start shopping him. As great as Stamkos is, the depth/picks/prospects the team could get for him would still keep that team realgud for a very long time. 10.5 mil eats up a lot of cap. Comes down to whether you want that 10.5 superstar, or a couple realgud players that give the team more depth. Either way, what to do with Stamkos is a pretty good problem for a team to have. Especially if part of a trade is agreeing on a long term deal to the team being traded to.

Unrelated as f***, but I have a band on George Street currently rocking out tunes for the Wings. Don't stop believing, living on a prayer, sweet Carolina, the works. Easy to do when the band is Habs fans and hates the Babcock signing he even went silent and let me yell SOUTH DETROIT! Into the mic. Yes, I am hammered.

The only 2 things that stand out is all his time on IR and most recently in the press box watching the Ducks playoff run.
