You should have put on a Chelios Wings jersey. That would have done it.

How awesome would it be to see Yzerman skating the Cup at the United Center in game 6?

This is what you get with a non hockey market team. Just wait until the regular season when they go back to their measly 6000 fans and the arena is filled by 80% of the other teams' fans.

    The return of The Mule?

I think they'd get hit with a cap recapture penalty on top of the ca hit for buying him out, so no, it's not a real option. Even without the recapture penalty, I don't think it's feasible. They also can't buy out an injured player. Abdelkader was projected as a potential second line player when he was drafted. it is far too early to give up on Jurco. He has good speed and size, he uses his size well, and despite his lack of production he still has enough skill to make him a probable top 6 winger in the near future.

    The return of The Mule?

People really want to give up completely on Jurco already? I get the frustration in the moment, but come on... Is it really so hard to think long-term just a little bit?

I remember a few years ago I was at Joe Louis West as I like to call the Hawks' barn, wearing my Yzerman jersey and a Hawk fan yelled at me, "Why are you wearing that? He doesn't even play for them anymore! And Red Wings suck!" It was then I looked at who he was wearing and it happened to be a Byfuglien one so I said, "Why are you wearing that? HE doesn'e even play for the Hawks anymore." He then tried to tell me that Byfuglien still does, and that he just bought it because Byfuglien is a, "Beast," and will win cups with the Hawks for many years to come. So I laughed in his face and left. Then some of their fans tried pushing my little brother down the stairs getting outside. It was a real...magical...expierence. And hell I remember when Wing sweaters took up 85% of that place, they couldn't even give tickets away, what a joke.

Jokes. Who cares what jersey a paying fan wears to a game. A big crowd of people should band together and just go shirtless once they get inside. Big fat hairy dudes. And chicks.

    The return of The Mule?

Kipwinger - always seems to be you... Jurco had strong possession numbers? He had 3 goals on 92 shots? Do you realize how bad that is? Possession means nothing without production. But it's ok because Jurco is so good defensively? Is this just because his offensive numbers were a joke? Do you realize he was the only (regular) forward on the Detroit Red Wings who spent 0 minutes and 0 seconds on the Penalty Kill this season? This tells me (outside of Stephen Weiss) he's actually the worst defensive forward on our team. And your comparison to Abdelkader is ridiculous, they are completely different players. Abdelkader's coming out party was in the Stanley Cup finals against Pittsburgh... He was inserted into the lineup because he could actually kill penalties (and score shorthanded) while manipulating the game with his physicality. I don't know if you're related to Jurco or something but he isn't this physical specimen you seem to think he is. It's playoff hockey pal, everyone hits.

    Don't forget about Europe.

You never know. I didn't think Alexei Zhamnov was the kind of guy that would load his team with 5 North American goons and have them bully every team in the KHL. But that's what happened in Vityaz many years ago when he ran the team. Yzerman may not have the final call, but he is one of the higher ups in the organization. How can you say he has not word in the matter?

    The return of The Mule?

Nah dude, he sucks. Cut him. Make him trade bait. Cut bait and trade him. etc. Why? Because one time, there was this guy named Ville Leino. And get this, Ville Leino was lazy, arrogant, and entitled. So therefore, he sucked. And Jurco wasn't really very good this year either. So chances are, he's probably like Ville Leino. Because both of them weren't very good, for totally different reasons. Make sense now?

Thought this thread would be about the Ducks versus Hawks instead it's another Quennville versus the best coach in all of hockey (useless) debate. Q is a very good coach but he is no Babcock. There is a reason wh the guy is so highly regarded and finally the highest paid coach in the league. I thinkk the top coaches are: Babs > Suter > Q > Tippet > McLellan > Julien > Hitchcock > Bylsma up and coming ones: Nelson + Cooper + hopefully Blashill Anyway, this game came down tothe big guys and well...the Hawks big guns delivered the Ducks didn't they didn't even goon it up

Yzerman is the General Manager of the team, he doesn't have any say in those kinds of things (to the best of my knowledge), nor is he the kind of guy that would do that. D-bag move by the Lightning, though.

Thats the only way people who are not happy with Holland can maintain their argument that Holland put a crappy team together. Saying we are a good team or saying we played great D kills their argument. Saying TB just played bad or seemed uninspired doesn't make them look wrong.

did you expect much offense playing with Miller and Glendening most of the time?

    The return of The Mule?

Not that it has anything to do with Franzen, but why are people so quick to give up on Jurco? Sure, he didn't meet expectations this year but he's an entire year younger than Pulkkinen. Give the kid some time, he'll be good.

Oh man, I remember this like it was yesterday. After the 5th goal I rememeber just laughing because the game got so ridiculous. I had no doubts about us winning the Cup after this.

They technically traded Halak for Ryan Miller, then let Miller walk for Brian Elliot. But same point stands I guess.

I don't think Tampa looked "uninspired" against us. That makes it seem like the series was only close because they were slacking off or something. The Red Wings are a tough out. Just like New Jersey used to be. We trap and trap and trap some more. It's not easy to score goals on a team like that. And Tampa needs to score lots of goals to win hockey games. But the writing was on the wall for most of the series. They owned the puck against us, just like they haven't against everyone else up to this point. No matter how much you trap, it's tough to beat a team when they always have the puck and you never do.

Olausson was a great depth pickup that year.

Oh, my... I miss that team and those days, so much. Baby Dats with his goal #7 - meaningless at that point, but a harbinger of things to come. I watched my recording of this game so many times, I actually had the announcers comments memorized on the goals. LOL~ Freddy Olausson! Love that guy. Igor, Nick, Dom, miss them all. But, I'm looking forward to next season, let's see what you've got, kids. Thanks for posting, Mikey. Fun memories!

I'll take the reds and yellows, you take the pinks and oranges. Problem solved. Music that is newer than mid-to-late 90s is just not that good (by and large, of course certain notable exceptions exist).
