Larkin is a remarkable player... he's got "it" -- the hockey sense, intangible X-factor. We are incredibly fortunate to have this kid in a winged wheel.

Eminem came up empty for me last time, so I need something new. It needs to be gritty, aggressive, grinding. Something that's almost synonymous with "fire in the belly", but that's also from Detroit. Something to be symbolic of the kind of intensity this team needs. This is hard. Wings: 3 (Green, Nyquist, Helm) Kinds: 2. Oh, I just remembered. What about this guy?

Future Captain

Honestly? he didn't make the turnover, but he's supposed to play defence. He had plenty of a head start - all he had to do is stay between the player and the net. Instead, he got way out-skated and left behind.

Are we allowed to complain about Smith here? or do we have to measure it with complaints about E and Kindl?

From my understanding because the former captain Danny Gare had left the team. I cant see a 19 year old Larkin becoming "the leader" of a team that still has players like Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Kronwall on it. Not to mention, do you actually think he would want that? I couldn't imagine just walking into a locker room and taking the captaincy from someone who has been there as long as Z. Typically young guys are given the C, when the entire team around them is young or new to the organization. You dont strip an established vet of the C to give to a 19 year old. Also, how is being big a good leadership quality?

I wasn't going to contribute too this but... Hank is absolutey the heart and soul to this team. Even when Dats get up to speed. That is all.

That would be the best way to heap way to much pressure on an already immature kid. You can see out there that he still has quite a few things to learn in the nhl. He just needs to focus on becoming the best player he can and leave the leadership to our vets. I can't imagine how s***ty it would feel for larkin to be named the captain and have Z still on the team but just demoted - would be against everything this organization stands for.

I would make the change when one of the following two things happen: 1. Jimmy and Petr become a problem in the locker room. According to some quotes currently both guys see this as a challenge and are supporting each other. 2. One of them shats the bed. Other than that keep the rotation going, I think the decline of Howard towards the end of seasons has been due to logging too many minutes. I think J-Ho's body just cannot handle 60+ starts a year. If both of these guys can play at current level (they are almost mirror images stat wise), missing a couple of games will help them rest and hopefully keep on the same pace.
