As a nickname, it isn't bad. I do strongly feel the arena should be named after Gordie, though. Congrats on the press for your idea. As far as my scripts comment, I don't care if it is or isn't. If fans are dedicated enough to game the system established for an online vote, those who want to do so for a different candidate are also free to do so, especially if it wasn't prohibited. The TSN POY voting was ridiculous in the amount of scripting done by several sides, but it was within the rules and it amused me to see the fan bases engaged (if I recall correctly, the were a large amount of Slovak fans scripting like mad for Tatar). The online pollsters have ways to stop it if they want to. I find it amusing.

I'm very concerned over what Holland will do when Kronwall returns. Sproul better not be removed and we better not waive anybody. Furthermore, AA better not be sent down to make room.

    Jacob Trouba watch

Trouba definitely wants to be a Red Wing, no question. Not just because it's his home state, and favourite team growing up, but I do believe that it actually is all about opportunity for this kid. He wants to play in the top 4 and on his right side, both of those are not an option in Winnipeg and definitely are in Detroit. I think the Wings would be a perfect fit for him, but for whatever reason I've always felt that he'll end up in Boston... I hope not... The problem is, I don't think either Detroit, Boston or Colorado (another potential trading partner) have what Cheveldayoff is looking for. So if they want to get a deal done, they may have to come down on their demands. I really can't see Trouba signing with Winnipeg at this point, and I really can't see him sitting out a full season. Fingers crossed he comes to the D...

I could care less what it's called, it's the team that's playing in it that I care about.

That's not the way I understood it. In your link it says: "If any of the 30 teams loses a free agent to Vegas during this 48-hour window, it no longer can lose anyone in the expansion draft. In other words, that free agent lost counts as the one player lost in the expansion draft." That doesn't specify UFA so I think it would apply to RFAs too. So I think each team can only lose 1 player. This new information could work in our favour since they could take some free agent like Ott or Miller and that could count as our player lost. And if we decide we're not going to re-sign either Smith or Vanek than they could be taken and it would be no different than losing them to free agency and no additional player taken away.

    Jacob Trouba watch

When contacted after Dreger’s report, Overhardt had this to say: “The situation is solely about usage. As we have previously stated, it has nothing to do with Winnipeg as Jacob has the upmost respect for the fans, the city, his teammates and organization,” Overhardt told TSN. “Several teams remain interested in Jacob and are willing to work with the club.” Lawless notes that the “perception of an anti-Winnipeg and now anti-Canada bias grows.” Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff still values Trouba and wants him to play for the Jets. Agents have stated that Trouba has to be in the mindset that he may not play before December 1st ...sounds like Trouba wants the D. He needs the D.

I'm guessing Holland is thinking by the time Jurco comes back, someone else will be hurt. Probability does favor that as at any point in the season a team usually has a few injuries. Either way, if its up to me I waive Miller or Ott and keep XO on the roster.

I'm sorry you feel its irresponsible and please don't take it personally, but its a bit unreasonable to expect people to blindly accept results that are posted on a message board as 100% legitimate, especially when the results seem to be very far of from what the general consensus appears to be. Big difference between someone possibly posting a fake poll (or posting with a very small sample size) and the questioning of a national election. Can you post the link to the results opposed to just a screenshot?

Sorry for the late replay haven't been on ... Point was I'd be more ok for me to include mantha in a package deal for someone like oel, i know mantha alone wouldn't be enough and if they'd also want Larkin then forget it I'd personally just wait those 4 years, like I said were not winning the cup anyways , and we have a star goalie in mrazek to help us win lots of games we shouldn't yes it's very hard to get a top pairing dman but it's almost or just as hard to get a top goal scoring winger with mantha's size , yes he's doing it in the ahl but he's just got all the tools and abilities to translate that to the NHL , he missed NHL training camp and pre season and struggled in his first ahl season and I'm willing to bet that delayed his progress I think 2 years into his NHL career we'll all be grateful we didn't trade him .... I love athanasiou and his speed and abilities and don't want to trade him but I'd part with him before mantha as I think his upside is much higher trust me I'd love to have trouba here , we just might have to wait and likely will, Ryan sproul has been looking good which will help, just sucks though I been hearing we might lose ouellet on waivers which is just stupid

My bad, you're right. During my first read I stopped at "48 hour window". Thanks for clarifying, I should have read the entire thing.

If we submit a claim and we are the only team to submit a claim then he goes right to Grand Rapids. Otherwise he has to go through waivers again.

    Pulkkinen claimed by Minnesota Wild

I guess this debunks the 30-day thing that's been talked about. As I understand the rule; if we were to be the only team to put in a claim for him, we could send him to GR without waivers. Not sure what would happen if someone else puts in a claim as well. Whether we would waive him again, or if he'd go right to the other team. If we can, we definitely should. I still believe he can be a good player. He's only been skating for about a month after his injury.

Kronwall retiring would have negative impacts on the team cap-wise, would it not? Isn't he signed for two more seasons?

    Pulkkinen claimed by Minnesota Wild

WOW! If this doesn't prove to people that Teemu Pulkkinen had no trade value, I dont know what will. I wonder if Holland puts a claim in for him? Can he?

Yup. It's a bit satisfying after how the board was when we waived him

My guess is that Marchenko will sit for Kronwall.

Sure Drew can kill penalties. But so can Helm, Abby, Sheahan, disney.com, Nielsen. AA and Larkin should also be seeing some PK time with their speed. All Miller is doing is keeping a guy like Mantha in the AHL when he should be learning to play at the NHL level. Having guys like Miller on the ice means you usually aren't playing WITH the puck very much. Our 4th line would score even more if a guy like Sheahan was on it instead. For the record, I do not hate Drew Miller. I've stuck up for him a lot in the past. But the team is at a point where they just don't need him anymore.

    Pulkkinen claimed by Minnesota Wild

I found this amusing; After the Wild game where Pookie scored, the post-game show host was listing off the scorers. He couldn't remember Pookie's name so he paused and said, "That Finnish kid we traded for." I immediately corrected him, of course, but since I am in my living room and he is a couple hundred miles away he didn't notice. Then I thought about it. They bought out Vanek and claimed Pookie. Pookie has taken Vanek's place on the 4th line. (Note: 4th line at the end of the season. I don't remember where Vanek was at the beginning of the season.) For them, it was almost like a trade. They sent us a 4th line winger and got a 4th line winger in return. We, on the other hand, got a 2nd liner who is producing and let go a Press Box Boy. People may be upset that we didn't get anything in return, but if you consider it as a trade-off, we definitely got the better end of the deal. And, for the record, the Press Box Boys would be a great name for a band.

    Pulkkinen claimed by Minnesota Wild

On a tip in. Hossa scored his 500th last night. Letting him walk to keep Franzen sure looks great. I know no one could have predicted his career would be cut way short, but anyone could have predicted Hossa would remain a major scoring threat. Remember when he scored 40 goals in his one season in Detroit? That was nice.

Huge part of this teams success this year comes down to special teams. We're top 5 PP and PK we move way up in the standings last year. Come playoff time it is almost always the difference in a series

It's hilarious considering how much whining people have done over a one-year deal for a 4th liner. It wasn't warranted, but I've literally never seen so many fans complaining about such a minor signing. Someone at Wingingitinmotown wrote some garbage article whining about how Ott and other PKers are useless and overrated, which is funny considering Detroit was 14th on the PK last year. 4th line looked real good last night. I hope they're able to continue.
