2 pointsButton has never been a fan of Tippett. He had him at 20 in his previous ranking. Not sure why. Something worth noting on some of the high-end Euros... Going by Eliteprospects.com, none of Necas, Pettersson, Liljegren, or Heiskanen have been drafted by the CHL, meaning they would be eligible to go to GR at any time.

If Liljegren is still available at #9 we gotta take him, his upside is too great not to pick him. Another theory , could Kenny trade some picks and a player to get another 1st round pick? -

Targets for the Wings

Yeah but you implied that he's not good enough to play #1. When in reality he was actually of of the better centers in the league last year. Zetterberg is like Yzerman that he plays through injuries but he's also unlike Yzerman because his body is actually pretty healthy. Probably healthier than most of the players on our team to be honest. He was the only forward to play 82 games two seasons in a row on our team. I think a lot of us have this narrative that Zetterberg's body is all bad and beaten up and somehow he's close to done. I don't think so, I think he's slowed down with age, I think he's had plenty of injuries that probably hurt but I think his brain is genius enough to adapt. That's what seperates guys like Zetterberg from guys like Lecavelier, Heatley, Richards, Dustin Brown. I believe that's the reason why he did so well last year, he knows his weakness is his speed, yet somehow his brain is smart enough to control the pace of the game around him. There's guys usually speeding past him but he's still two steps ahead of them mentally. I do agree that we need another Center. But I would rather have a 36 year old Zetterberg putting up 70 ish points and doing smart things out on ice for the other kids to watch and see than having someone like Kreiji, Bozak or one of the other non-top 10 centers out on ice. I think Blashill is right to have him as #1 because the more he plays the better Wingers guys like Mantha, Tatar, Nyquist become. Rather than having some chump be their center. And honestly if Z is willing to be the top center, and he's able to do it then I don't see what the problem is. Have Larkin be #2C and AA #3C and trade Nielsen somehow -

Take a dozen players after the top 2, throw a dart at them, and you have as good a shot at picking the best one as the experts. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -

Yeah I know, he looks the more ready of the 2 but Libor is 3 years younger and could develop into a more productive D man. -

Hischier is 6'1" 176 lbs as an 18 year old and already plays in North America.... (but yes he is born in Europe, so he is naturally inferior) Agreed. I'd like to see some other post-combine mock drafts to compare where he's ranked. -

You're talking about two different things here, so I'll try to address them both. Frk's "skill", and his scoring rate so far in the AHL. The two aren't really the same thing. His scoring rate is decent enough for the AHL, but his skill is what makes me think he'd perform better on an NHL third line than the guys you mentioned. A little like AA, who didn't really have that great of a scoring rate in the AHL when he was a top guy, but whose skillset makes him dangerous in the NHL as a complimentary piece. I think that with his shot, size, and hands it wouldn't be unrealistic for Frk to get 12-15 goals on the 3rd line I mentioned (Neilsen and Svech). You may have more faith in Abby, Sheahan, or Helm than I do, but I don't see them scoring that much at this point. I don't think Frk is some star player in the making or anything, but I think he's got better finishing skills than those guys. -
1 pointFrk is 23 (24 this coming season). There are many players that don't make their mark in the league until their Frk's age or even later. Detroit aren't really a team known to move their prospects along quickly either... Jensen finally got the call this year at the tender age of 26. DeKeyser was a highly sought after free agent that was never drafted and never played a game pro at the same age Frk is now. Frederick Gaudreau is 24, just made his debut this season, and is giving the Preds an added scoring punch in the playoffs. Ryan Dzingel is another example. Zach Hyman, and how about the great Luke Glendebing... I'm sure there are many other examples, but those are just a few off the top of my head. I agree though that the likelihood of Frk having a major impact isn't great, I'd just like to see what he can do if given the opportunity. He has to know that it's make or break this coming season for him.

Well he was never given an NHL game with the Wings and only played 2 with the Hurricanes so it isn't like he had a lot of chances. -

Targets for the Wings

Seriously? You think Zetterberg should be our number 3 center? After the season he just had, ranking 11th in the league in points? Zetterberg proved, not that he can just keep up, but that he's still an elite level player. He's putting up great numbers, while still being one of the better two-way centers in the game. Z is still far and away our best center (and our best player), and he will be our top center until he inevitably slows down. Maybe that's this year, maybe next year, but until then, he is our best option down the middle, and it's not even close. -

...sissybois on the Red Wings? -
1 pointVatanen would be interesting. Coming off a down year, plus being injured, maybe he could be had relatively cheap. Doesn't solve our defense problems of course, but could be part of the solution at least. Dumba/Brodin and Hamonic I'd put in with Trouba and Fowler. It'd be great but I don't want to give up a 1st or our top prospects unless it's for a true star. Barrie is on the same level (probably better than all of them in fact), but I don't think the Avs will move him, despite the persistent rumors. Nathan Beaulieu could be interesting. Younger guy with decent production and further potential. Probably come cheap if Habs are really trying to move him. Not really interested in any of the forwards, since the good ones would likely cost more than they'd be worth. Really doubt Jackets trade Jenner.

I agree, but we all know it's not going to happen... Honestly, I'd be shocked if Holland sheds any contracts other than the one that Vegas takes, which will in all likelihood be one of the smaller contracts that we don't want to lose...
