You forget: Bergevin is crazy. Tell him AA is a real good locker room guy and he speaks French and he would respect da system and da culture and he would be a real good guy who would be real good, while also being a guy, a guy who happens to be real good (especially in the locker room).

    2017 Draft

You want Yamamoto? The extremely small (5'8", 153 lbs) finesse winger? Does his size and style of play not matter because he's an American born player? You don't want Pettersson because he's a small finesse player, but he's 6" taller and 10-15 lbs. heavier... Would you want him if his name was Yamamsson from Sweden? For some reason I don't think so... Stop basing opinion on players by their birth certificate...

Montreal has a top prospect who may be a#1 D. Detroit had a top prospect who may be a #3 center. See the difference? Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Montreal wins this trade in the short term, but Tampa could easily still come out on top in the long term. Sergachyov and Drouin I think could easily turn out to be close to wash when it comes to helping their new teams. So the picks could end up being the difference of who wins this trade. If Tampa ends up keeping the 2nd round pick, they could win the trade long term.

Andersson had him ranked in the top 10 among european born players. We got that player with a 7th round pick. Not sure how anyone could be anything but thrilled by that.

    Mattias Elfstrom

Was bored, so decided to check up on some of our prospects. We might have a diamond in the rough with this kid. He's 6'3" 195 lbs, plays both wing and C, just turned 20 in January, and was selected with our last pick in the 7th (197th overall) After the draft Hakan described him as a powerforward with a ton of offensive upside. He also said he's most comparable to Logan Brown, who was the big PWF a lot of teams were gunning for in the draft last year that went to Ottawa at 11th overall. Elfstrom did not appear on the NHL's CSS rankings at all in his draft year, and Andersson also stated that no other teams appeared to know about him. Yet Andersson himself had him ranked in his top 10 European players in that draft class, and was urging the Wings to take Elfstrom sooner than the 7th round. This year Elfstrom notched 43 pts in 36 pts GP (including 18 goals) for his Swedish team. A nice step up from 31 pts in 43 GP (11 goals) in his draft year. Perhaps this is a kid we should start talking about.

I remember his name being brought up as a bit of a sleeper third round pick.. here's a pretty good write up on Dylan Samberg. Definitely seems like the kind of guy we should try to draft. http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/article/sleeper-picks-scouts-say-samberg-is-only-scratching-the-surface-of-his-potential

There's no way I would trade either Larkin or AA in a trade for Galchenyuk for the simple reason that those assets are much more cost-controlled than him. He's approaching the end of his RFA status and is going to want to get paid soon. Plus I really don't think his ceiling is any higher.

    Griffins Calder Cup Playoffs Thread

Idk about this. It is hard to guess where Frk might end up but he's got decent size, can play in the corners, and go to the dirty areas. Pulks seemed to hesitate to go into the corners and stayed away from the gritty areas. I'd give Frk a decent amount of games on 3rd line with some power play time to see if he can settle in. It's not like it's going to change anything or hurt the team. I see Nosek as a solid 4th line center who could fill in on 3rd line for a short period of time with injuries. He's got good size, decent hands, and is faster than Anderson. In the 3 games I watched in Syracuse, he was often the most noticeable player on the ice. Always engaged in the physical play and always driving the net. He made a lot of good things happen. Again, it won't hurt the team to give him a decent amount of time to try and get his game going. Thats just my opinion based on the limited time I've seen these guys play. I say give em a shot.

Never suggested that these guys are future top line guys, but I'm gonna get to the crux of my argument about guys like Nosek, Lil' Bert, and Frk (to a lesser extent) real quick-like... You don't build a playoff team with only first line players. Do we need to concentrate on the top-six? Drafting. Developing. Trading-for. Absolutely. Should we just poo-poo any bright spots in the bottom six? No way.

It's what I like to call the Red Right Hand Rule. There are two parts. First, if you are a right-shooting forward and a Red Wings prospect or fringe Red Wings roster player, you do not have a future with the Red Wings. #Jarnkrok #Callahan #Glendening #Frk #Nastasiuk #Campbell Second, if you are a highly skilled right-shooting forward who was signed by the Red Wings as a UFA, you will play one season with the Red Wings, perform well, and then f*** off. #Brunner #Alfredsson #Vanek #Jagr(SOON) It's science.

    2017 Draft

Here's a write up on him as well: http://thehockeywriters.com/josh-brook-2017-nhl-draft-prospect-profile/ seems like a solid enough middle round pick. If we got those two guys in the third plus another d-man somewhere in the first three rounds/one of the four mentioned above in the first (assuming no one projected top 5 drops), I'd be pretty satisfied with the draft overall.

    2017 Draft

Yup, he's one of the guys I'm keeping an eye on in the mid rounds. I think he would be a great pick. Another I'd keep an eye on is Josh Brook.

No! Nastasiuk is a franchise goalie. Use your brain, smithbro. This is serious business.

How about Ouellet, 2nd round pick and Nastasiuk for Galchenyuk?...

I think it's Liljegren, Makar, Glass, Tippett for me too (that's in no particular order.. would be equally happy with any of them.) assuming no one falls unexpectedly.

If he can put the puck in the net, I do not care how he gets it there. I am much less concerned with style than I am with scoring.

That's it?! We want players who are at least 7' and 280. Sick of all these soft 6'3" runts.. way to go Holland.

    Mattias Elfstrom

You are uninformed, sir. "After they play against him a few rushes, they see how he forces them to back off. Displays a good strong shot, very good hands and an emerging physicality. He can beat you one on one, with a shot from the perimeter, or with body work. Projects as a player who can develop into a power player." https://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2016/6/25/12029640/2016-nhl-draft-red-wings-select-mattias-elfstrom-in-the-7th-round-at Plus, he's 6'3 and 194 lbs at age 20. CSL even has Hakan calling him a powerforward so you must not have read the OP. But, yeah, he's swedish so he must be soft...

No just no. There's nothing more delicious than shoving a greasy hot n ready down my fat American maw. And knowing I only paid $5 for it, and will likely have a few slices left to eat the next day, makes it that much sweeter. Go take your gluten free, free range, organic, $20, topping loaded, thing you like to call a pizza and eat it like a refined modern gentlemen with a fork and knife. I, with a super slice in each hand, will combo mambo up down the aisles of the little Caesars arena chanting PIZZA PIZZA with much glee.
