    Chelios Released from Duties

Aaaaaaand... he's back https://sports.yahoo.com/chris-chelios-returned-red-wings-030012521.html Wanted to explore the option of working with the PA but had to resign first so there wasn't a conflict of interests. Decided it wasn't a good fit so he's back in his old position.

I'd rather see Tatar and Nyquist traded and sign Vanek, he was more fun to watch.

    Development Camp

There were several different analysis done at the camp that I read regarding Rasmussen. All were pretty solid takes on his skating, puck handling, and shot. I think/hope we might have gotten a solid player with leadership ability and strong character. Time will tell. Also saw that Hronek, Saarijarvi, and Cholowski were impressing on Friday and Saturday. And I think we got a winner in Petruzzelli, hoping he's ready in 2 years to jump up and be our starter. Again, time will tell.

    Development Camp

(Rasmussen) "He uses long, graceful, smooth strides to fly down the ice (often having to wait up for his line mates). Several of the other players on the ice looked choppy in comparison, but Rasmussen was smooth and fluid. His skating style and stride were beautiful to watch. I wasn’t able to see a lot from this big kid yet, but what I did see was good. He also looks like he has a bomb of a shot!" A graceful skater leaving teammates behind with a bomb of a shot...This description should be encouraging to those who were wary of this pick - and latched on to the Holmstrom comparison in the draft discussion. This guy does seem to have a lot more to offer than just size and skill as a net-front presence.

Right. Because no one has actually watched him play and people just assumed. Bomb of a shot is very encouraging.

    2017 Opening Day Roster

I'd make a significant wager that no major changes in the way of trades will be made this year, or any year until Holland moves on. I'd love to be proven wrong on that though...

Somewhat surprised by everyones reaction. He's going to the NHLPA, not Dallas. His contract was up at the end of the month anyway, if he didn't want to re-up with us there's not much we can do about that. Wasn't he in a very limited role anyway?? As much as I love Chelly, this isn't a significant blow to the organization in any way.

which one of these teams was the most shocking when they were defeated and should have won it all alot would say the 96 roster with that amazing reg season but i felt shocked when the 2002-03 team got sweeped by the ducks

That was my vote. Not only did we lose first round to a low seed, but it was the sweep that made it shocking.

Hell, I'd even take Jagr. I'm definitely on board with this though. I wouldn't mind keeping Tatar over Nyquist. It just seems like Tatar doesn't want to play here given his recent interview.

Tatar has said that if he goes to arbitration and is awarded the 1-year contract that that would be his last contract signed in Detroit. I'm not liking this tactic of either trying to get Kenny to give him a better deal/longer term or really just wanting to be in Detroit much longer. I'd trade him in a heartbeat. Yes, he can score goals, but he is mostly one-dimensional. He scored 25 goals last season but didn't crack 50 points. Would I prefer him over Nyquist? Absolutely, but the reality is that we have Nyquist for 2 more seasons and I don't see Kenny being able to move his contract unless he has a good bounce-back season. You have guys like Mantha, A2, Svechnikov, Bertuzzi, Frk... I'm not worried about losing Tatar or Nyquist. I believe Mantha and A2 both have 30+ goal potential. It would be another indictment of Holland if we lose Tatar for nothing. After what he said, if he gets a 1-year deal, you trade him as soon and for as much as you can get. Probably futures.

I think Svechnikov needs another season in Grand Rapids, and I wouldn't hate if Bertuzzi started down there as first call up. Street already being 30, is a career AHLer, so no need to waste a spot on him. Frk may never become a full time NHLer, but I'd like him to at least get a shot on the 3rd line. My vote goes to Frk.

A big man who can keep up with Larkin and AA is a good thing.

He does? Since when? Last time I read anything he wrote it was equal parts copy and pasting real journalists' stuff, complaining about health and money, and making crap up and saying "if you read between the lines, this is what he really means," followed by arguing with commenters.

    2017 Draft

And here come the Bertuzzi haters lol... Just because CSS or whoever had Bertuzzi projected as a 5th, doesn't mean the Wings or 29 other teams didn't have him a lot higher. Hate to burst your bubble, but Fasching and Hayden haven't done much at all at the NHL level. Bertuzzi just carried his AHL team to a Calder Cup championship, won the Butterfield trophy as the leagues MVP, set a franchise record for playoff scoring, and is a much more rounded player than former AHL standouts like Pulkkinen. Keep up that 2013 narrative while you have it though, you don't have much time until Bertuzzi makes the team full-time.

I'd like to see us move Tatar, especially if hes getting 5+ million

Chris Chelios doesn't do what Chris Chelios does for Chris Chelios. Chris Chelios does what Chris Chelios does because Chris Chelios IS Chris Chelios. But yeah I think it's a conflict of interest to work for an employer and the union for that employer at the same time.

What's to stop Chelios from doing it anyway?? Edit: for the record I'm really disappointed in all of you that this wasn't the second fricking comment.
