Howard only has one year left. Buying him out adds a cap hit for two years. No thanks when Weiss is still eating cap space and possible future recapture penalties for Kronner and/or Z. Best to trade or him ride it out. Ditto E.

Mrazek should have started, plain and simple. He's been the better goalie, so if the point was to try and get wins and shorten the point gap, he's your go-to. I called this game being a blowout as soon as they said Jimmy was starting. I have nothing against Howard, but he hasn't played well over the past 20 or so games... only has like 6 or 7 wins in that span.

Buying out Howard in the off season and signing Mrazek for 2 or 3 years would make the most sense.

Long as they end up just outside the final wild card spot, i'd be ecstatic. If they finish low enough to get a decent shot at a top pick, that's just wrong. Chicago not being a contender and/or missing playoffs was bound to happen though. They had too many drafted stars to lock up to expensive deals, which kept the rest of the roster changing constantly to stay at the cap. Getting swept in the first round and then losing Panarin was a huge LOL. But they won three cups in 7 seasons. They didnt win one from 1961-2010. The Leafs draught wasnt even that bad. Any of their fans that arent satisfied with that and complain about the downswing obv dont understand the salary cap. It's designed to break up powerhouse teams. Pittsburgh isn't winning a third straight Cup. They've lost some guys and are just burnt out from 2.5 seasons and two Cup runs. That's a ton of hockey in short time, and Crosby/Malkin/Kessel aren't that young anymore. Plus the two goalie strategy they used so well is gone. Murray is the guy now. No help from Flower.

It sucks when the only game you get to see is one like this. That's why it frustrates me when the team plays like garbage. Every team loses games. But you should at least be able to leave the game without feeling like you just got ripped off. This team is like a used car. I know I'm not buying a brand new piece of Detroit engineering. But I should at least get a car that doesn't stop running before I get it home.

Everyone just hates the Red Wings, like they do the Yankees or the Patriots. They hate us to the point that they looked and saw us tanking, and decided they couldn't let us win at that either. Sidenote: At a hockey bar in Seattle Washington that I was in a few months back a Florida Panthers fan started chanting f*** THE RED WINGS and everyone in the bar joined in (fans from all different teams). They did not do this for any other team. It felt good knowing they still respect us enough to hate us.

So how are we feeling about the Blackhawks possibly missing the playoffs? On the one hand, I'm all about it. Because f*** the Blackhawks. On the other hand, I don't want them in the lottery pool. Because f*** the Blackhawks.
