    Congrats, General!

1.5 Million Posts. Impressive. Thank you for enduring all of CRL's snottyness, all of KRS's bunk trade hypotheticals, Kipwinger's obnoxious holier than thoughedness, NyquistITF's poor listening skills, Dabura's lack of hype, and 91's straight dumpster fire garbage. It's been a great ride so far. To another 25 years!

K who do you WANT to be captain? I respectfully disagree. Larkin is a fine young man, but he seems to have the same cookie cutter personality that most pro NHLers have. Nothing really jumps off the page about him. Seider on the other hand is charismatic and extremely vocal with his teammates on the ice in all situations. Larkin can be vocal too, but it's mostly when he's mad at a ref or slamming his stick. Seider has personality and leadership written all over him. If some guys can be "lockerroom cancer" Seider is "lockerroom chemo" for lack of a better phrase. I would sincerely be okay with Glendening being named captain next season. He's older, extremely respected by the organization (seemingly by both Holland and Yzerman's organizations), plays the game "the right way", and seems to have a between the lines off ice life. 5 years of a rebuild with Glendening as C, then moving to a younger (but now matured and established) player like Seider would make a lot of sense in my mind.

    Goal GOAT Poll

On pace for 58 goals now. It is pretty cool that we are witnessing one of the best goal scorers of all time right now.

That was one of the reasons he was chosen with that pick IIRC

Can confirm 100% that Kakko and Hughes will never win a single Norris trophy, let alone multiple. Jerks.

Every single person in the hockey world gasped when Yzerman drafted Seider 6th overall Those gasps widened their mouth holes just large enough for Yzerman to slide his massive dong into them.

I think it's far from inevitable... I think it speaks volumes that despite shortsighted fans clamoring for him to be captain for 2 years it's not happened. Too much coke, too many outbursts, the personality of a paper plate #notmycaptain

I'm sorry you're correct, he led 5 seasons, not 4. Absolutely agree with you though. Comparing Gretsky to Ovechkin is like comparing Yzerman to Hull. For the former it was about playing a complete playmaking game where goals naturally just came, and for the later it was about a hyper-focus on goal scoring. That stylistic difference alone leads me to somewhat of a bias towards Ovi, Bossy, Hull types. If you look at the graphs I posted, Gretsky was on a pretty steady downward trend in goal scoring adjusted per game after the early 80s. His career looks like it has 3 stages: Early 20s beyond human. Late 20s human, but still the GOAT. 30s dead puck era and post Suter, great player but nowhere near his former self. Ovechkin on the other hand is seemingly immune to age and wear and tear like Howe was. His consistency in goal scoring is flat out remarkable.

    Goal GOAT Poll

I think Gretzky lead the league 5 times, not 4. At the same time, I've never really thought about him as the best goal scorer because that was not the type of player he was. He put up huge goal totals just because he was that good....but goal scoring was secondary for him (same for Mario, but to a lesser extent). So I'm somewhat biased into thinking Bossy and Ovechkin are better goal scorers simply because that's their game. I mean, Ovechkin has 700ish goals and 570 assists. When Gretzky had 700 goals, his assist total was 1,400+....so you look at it a bit different. To set the record straight a bit on Gretzky's stats though, his goal scoring didn't go down that much at 26....yes, he scored 40 goals that year, but only in 64 games, he scored 54 in 78 games the next year, then 41 in 73 games the following year. The biggest turning point in his career was when he was 30 and got hit from behind into the boards by Gary Suter (international play). He was never the same player after that. His goal scoring (because as I suggested, was secondary) seemed to take the biggest hit. All that said, I think Ovechkin is the greatest goal scorer, most pure goal scorer. I would have liked to see what Bossy could have done if his career wasn't cut short.

Nice assumption BUT NO; Actually I've never been more than lukewarm on Larkin... last offseason I'd have gone from "absolutely not" to "f*** if we have to"... I think Seider, in a very short time, has shown he has a much more engaging personality and a higher level of maturity. I'd love to bring in an aging leader for 2-3 years to serve as captain or resign Glendenning for 2-3 years as captain to bridge to Seider.

You have become more powerful than I could possibly imagine One day were gonna do Seider v. Larkin aren't we? Today isn't that day, but I'll bide my time and be ready.

Yep. Still the best. If scoring flashy goals meant anything, Andreas Athanasiou would be an all-star. You can literally find the exact same types of tweets a year ago about how "cheat code" Jack Hughes was too. Not working out so great for him now though.

You're correct. While our one dice throw has a higher shot... they have more dice throws. We have no extra first this year. Existence is pain.

I'm sure you do. You're down on Larkin after a down season. Everyone would have been okay with the decision to name Larkin captain last offseason. Now, let's move onto the newest shiny toy - Seider... Larkin is absolutely part of this team's future, and will be named captain before next season. Might as well get used to it now. Seider will get an 'A' at some point.

    Goal GOAT Poll

I imagine if Ovechkin ever found a wood stick he would be utterly baffled by it. Like a Chimpanzee seeing fire for the first time. Gretsky would be potting his 92nd goal while Ovie confusingly screeches at the piece of strange wood.

It's true. The further back you go the littler everyone gets. Lot of people don't know this, but the Revolutionary War was fought by literal munchkins. George Washington, for instance, was only about a foot and a half tall. But considering everyone else averaged about 11 inches in height you can see why he always looks so big in those paintings.

His consistency is ridiculous, as it stands now (not including tonights games) he's only 2 down from Pastrnak with 45 goals. I could see him getting his 9th win this year.

Both young. Both fast. Both talented. Both centers. Both potted 30+ in '19. Both having down seasons. 1 traded. The brown guy... and yzerman sold low on him
