The Wings' fourth line has been the best line on the ice, but they don't know how to score goals so its 0-0 still.

I like what our blue line has shown through these first four games. I like this emphasis on low-event hockey. I like the emphasis on structure and set plays. I like that every player seems to know what he's doing, what he'd like to do next, and what he'll do if things don't go according to plan. I like that when something does go wrong and the puck ends up in our net, it's because of a simple turnover, so all Babcock has to say is "That? Don't do that." I like that the D are jumping into the attack, that we're showing some physicality in our end, that The Forbidden Play - the breakout pass through the middle of the ice - seems to be throwing off the opposition. I like that we're no longer an adventure in our end, that we've calmed down, matured, grown, flat-out improved. I also like Jeff Petry. But when I look at our blue line...to me, it doesn't scream "Could really use Jeff Petry." I think he'd settle in as a good #3 or #4, and, frankly, that's not what we need. Certainly not if it costs us Helm. His shortcomings are familiar to us - mental lapses in the d-zone, soft plays, inconsistency. He was a strong possession player last season, basically serving as Edmonton's #1 defenseman, but I don't know if adding him moves our needle closer to true Cup contention.

this settles it...Weiss has officially taken up residency in the Legwand/Modano/Commodore dog house. I almost cannot wait for Babcock to leave...

I know it's a split second decision but Abby, you gotta let Z have the puck there.

    Weiss

Probably should have kept Filpula. I was all for signing Weiss instead of Valteri, but at least Holland and I were wrong...

CBC acting as if we'll lose Babs after this season because the Wings wouldn't be willing to pay him more than Holland makes.

OK. Well you deserve some March 14 treatment for that sacrifice.

Guy walks into The Home Depot. Asks the greeter "Where can I find Milan Lucic? The greeter says: "Tools, Aisle Six".

Boston is in the same situation (to a much lesser extent) that we were the last few years with lidstrom. The main difference is charas nowhere near as good as lids was, so now that is game is falling off its more noticeable to the success of the team. They lose boychuck(we lost RAF) and all of the sudden their stellar d is turning average. The wings had much more skill though. And were more disciplined. I think its taking chara longer to get back into game shape, and yes clearly lost a step. And whether you think thornton helped them our not last year Their "team toughness" has definitely declined. Theyre going to be screwwd when chara retires.

Sweet. Holland would be able to get JVR for Glendenning if Babs was Toronto’s GM.

I am serious. If we tear down every stadium after only 30 years of existence, then we won't have any more Boston Garden, and Montreal Forum type places. You can't create historic stadiums if you only keep them around a few decades. The JLA would have history if it was allowed to stand.

I hate how little respect they have in this country for stadiums and history. Maybe it's because the country hasn't been around for as long as others. A few years ago, Yankee Stadium was demolished. Boston Garden was demolished in the 90's. How can you get rid of those stadiums and all the history associated with that? In Europe, the most famous soccer stadiums have been around over 50 years. Some stadiums in England have been around over 100 years. Yes, those stadiums undergo massive renovations and look nothing like they did 50 years ago, but at least they're still there. When people go to those games, they can say they're in the same stadium so and so used to play at. I know things are done differently here, but I'm not a fan of tearing the JLA down.
