For context's sake. Jon Cooper was 5-8-3 in his first 16 NHL games. It takes a second for new coaches to find their groove with the team. Can we maybe give it a ******* minute?

Holy f*** this thread. I'm embarrassed that I come here sometimes.

This is a whole new level of "the sky is falling," even for LGW...

Way to early for a thread like this. If we were in March and the Wings were 10th seed and still playing this way, I would get it. Its fricken October 28th! I was at the game yesterday, and what I saw was a team that lacked chemistry. I cant tell you how many times a pass went through someone's skates, or over their stick, just missed the tape, a shot went wide, someone over skated a pass etc. They just seemed like they were not clicking. The good news, is this isn't a talent issue, its a chemistry issue. Its much easier to fix chemistry then talent. They are playing bad hockey though.

You can't be serious this early in the season....

This thread is very premature and dumb. You ever get a promotion at work? Usually it takes a bit of time to adjust to the new position. This isn't any different

This. It's unreal, yet so typical, that people are ready to fire Blashill 10 games in. The team is adapting to a new style, growing pains are a real thing people. Blashill is a proven winner, how about you give him a second?Edit: and wasn't our start last year fairly similar to this? Babcock is not the end all be all.

While we're at it, waive Pavel. The guy hasn't even scored a goal yet. So much for a playmaker.

I think Justin Bourne does a good job explaining what I think our problem is mostly due to here: http://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/864998

When Rick Zombo is pissed you know you done f***** up. --- Seriously though. If there's one thing I realized. Blashil's job is very much secure. In addition to the fact that it's the Red Wings who are loyal. It's also the fact that his ties with the state, the minor affiliate and tons of events he's been a part of all summer long. This isn't some Canadian hockey coach they hired that moved from Anaheim. This guy was born and raised here and IS a Detroiter.

Yeah lol. It's probably one of the most active forums out there to be honest. Especially the Wings section.

HF looks fun. I mean I've only gone it a couple times but seem the Wings section is more active then this site.. Just saying.

Can we all admit that this is the worst hockey the wings have played in over 10 years

Nothing to add. Of course our players don't look good at the moment. But I give them 20 to 40 games to sort it out. You don't change you headcoach after 10 seasons and see the team play immediately flawless under the new one. Especially if the coach left is named Mike Babcock.

Tony!Toni!tone! Would be a terrible hockey coach. Also. Pump the breaks a bit.

Crosby isn't on a downward trend. Any more than Ovechkin was on a downward trend a couple years ago when his points dipped. Crosby is the very best player in the world. As much as I love Ovie, and I do, he's not better than Crosby. Nobody is.

No, I don't think they're playing well. But firing a coach 10 games into his NHL career seems rash. Back to the point I was making, he hasn't had one of the best players on the team and several key players have already missed time due to injury. It wouldn't be fair to fire a guy before he's given a chance to prove himself with the full roster.

    What is wrong with Anaheim?

I get people don't like Perry (myself included) but he's a very good hockey player and would definitely make the Red Wings a better team.

Each one of these losses to s***e teams could end up being nails in the coffin down the road. What ever Blashill's plan is up until now it is not working... maybe it did in the AHL but so far it's a belly flop in the big league. Didn't the team finally respond in Vancouver after Zetterberg let them have it? .... after ZETTERBERG let them have it!! He is the Captain and he must lead but the guy has never been known for verbally blasting the team. That was Babcock doing that. This team does not seem prepared enough and it shows at game time. I think Blashill can be a fine coach but his learning curve better be a very steep one. And yes, I do believe this is a better team... many young player have gotten some very valuable experience (regular season and playoffs), we FINALLY got that big RH defenseman we have been needing and it has been a non-factor, we now have 2 capable starting goalie's, Zetterberg is looking better then he has in years, Franzen is better on the shelf then on the ice. I'm seeing a very ill prepared team then what we are use too.... Where is our #2 PP from last season? Never going to have that again until they consistantly get shots on net. Not looking to run Blashill or any player out of town but we need to start seeing steady and consistent improvement each and every game not only when our mild mannered Captain gets pissed off.

I know I know. It's still mediocrity. Right now, Blashill's not as good at getting this team to play middle-of-the-road hockey as Babcock was. What's the diff? Babcock's teams weren't ever that close to contending after 2009, and neither is Blashill's right now. But he has 73 games to do something about it. Babcock can't do anything about the fact that he's 0-5 with the Wings in the last 5 playoff games where they could have clinched a series. Regardless of how poorly Blashill might do, it's not like Uncle Mike left us at the alter.

    Montreal

Any idea where the Wings stay when they're in Montreal? Near the Bell Centre I'm guessing. Random question, I'll be in mtl the weekend and just got tix. Just realized I haven't posted here since the Cup win

    Goalie Battle

Good for Howard. You'd have to be insane to root against him this year. Even if you think Mrazek is the future, the better Howard plays, the more valuable he'll be when we end up trading him. Best case scenario is to go through this season with both goalies to be pushing each other. Mrazek learns, Howard increases his value, Wings win more games.
