What if they rolled out a Mantha - Larkin - AA line

Let's Go Wings! Kick butt like my kids did at region chorus (I got two into all-states). Let AntMan get a goal streak going, have Dylark get it going again, and blow up the scoreboard. With Boston slumping, just leapfrog them and take the wildcard issue away. With the Stralman injury in TB, that could help us as well. That line has the potential to..... KICKAZZ! Though I don't see it happening just yet, I don't think Blashill trusts them defensively enough. In a couple of years though....

Many things wrong with this. One: Can't offer 8 years. 7 years is the max. Two: Can't offer $20M signing bonus (unless spanning multiple years). Max is about 14 million, depends on the cap. Three: Trouba being a potential Norris winner is a stretch. Offensive skills seem only decent at best. Four: Trouba right now is not worth close to $8M. That'd make him the 2nd highest paid defenseman in the NHL. Five: Compensation for that would be 4 1st-round picks. Trouba is not worth close to that. Six: That would create some serious cap problems for us. Seven: Offer sheets are stupid. There is a reason why almost no one makes them.

A 2nd new Wings fan in my family is on the way, though this time around we'll be looking for pink Wings gear! She's "officially" due on July 31st, though she'll actually be here a week or two before that. Parker (my First Wings fan) is ridiculously excited to be an older brother.

Playoff push? I don't know about that. Big asset? Not the biggest. An asset? For sure. Our big assets in the last 5 games or so have been - Datsyuk, secondary scoring (thank you Glendog, Helm and Sheahan), and PP finally clicking. Without those 3 factors we would be nowhere. Smith and the rest of the defense have made a lot of errors. But in terms of Smith overall - I can't complain - he's been doing pretty well and playing the role we need him to. Way better than last season and years before.

Just outta curiosity...am I the only one that sees Smith as a pretty big asset on this push for a playoff appearance? He's picked up his game and he's our most physical player right now. I was on the fence about him for a while, but I'm really liking what I see.

You're starting to sound like Bill/Miller, if you hate Nyquist so much just make a thread about him and contain it in there. Nyquist/Tatar definitely are not the next euro twins, but they are still very good third line wingers. Its annoying how quickly people will just turn on a player. In all honestly, I doubt Holland signs Qunicey, Helm, Richards or Miller. I could see him maybe signing one, but I would say the chances of all four coming back area pretty slim especially Richards.

Just my take on the game....Kronwall and Ericsson are the two worst d-men on the team. Period. They single-handedly almost gave that game away last night...and most nights. Nyquist needs to sit, he is no longer any sort of threat...except to melting the ice with his suckiness. Geez, remember when we had a team full of GOOD Swedes? Now we have one that's on his last leg and still carrying the team. If we could rid ourselves of the three mentioned above, we'd be a better team by subtraction. BTW - Anyone else having issues logging in on an android device? I can no longer log in on my phone or tablet, I get some wierd long error message....

Yes, let's clutter another thread instead of PMing someone. FFR, mods will always respond to PMs. Posting suggestions, issues or questions in the thread will be deleted, not for any reason other than they are off topic. It's easy to say "delete the posts instead of the thread," but there were 6 pages of it and maybe 4 or 5 posts actually on topic. Which action makes more sense? If everyone does their best to keep things on track, I can actually talk hockey or stay out of the way instead of policing stuff.
