Praise was never close to as good as Stamkos.

I wouldn't rather have Radulov or Okposo over Stamkos, however I'm not sure how I would feel about paying him $10.5M until 2024. What are we going to pay Larkin, Mantha and company in a few years if he's making that kind of money? If we're spending that kind of cap on a player, I'd prefer it be spent on a defenseman. In saying that, if we landed Stamkos, I wouldn't be too upset...

Stamkos is a no-brainer, even with the clot issue. 1) I think there are multiple kinds of blood clot issues, not all of them are dangerous enough to be fatal risks, but I'm not sure. 2) If, God forbid, something did happen to him, he's young enough to not hurt us with a cap recapture penalty if he retires. He's light years ahead of any other talent available, it's not even close, so Holland has to make a push.

I'd rather we sign Okposo and Radulov than Stamkos and either of the other two. Gives us more money to accommodate a defenseman if we can trade for one. Stamkos is going to be a VERY expensive 70 point player.

    Mantha

Hopefully Mantha has a big off season of training and comes out in training camp forcing them to put him on the wings roster next year. Based on reports and box scores and seeming him play twice (once toward the beginning of the season and once at the end hah), He definitely seemed to be improving as the year went on?

So we got rid of Bedard, who by all reports was close to Howard and Mrazek only had a "professional" relationship with. And we signed the guy Mrazek said he wanted. Howard, start packing your bags?

Says who? It's cute people think he will walk away from KHL money for a 3-5 million dollar contract. Stamkos is a franchise player just entering the prime years of his career. If he is willing to play for your hockey team for 7 years at 10 million per, you sign him. As would any GM in the league. If a GM had the luxury of choosing between Stamkos for 70 million over 7 years, or Radulov at 1 year for 3-5, guess what? Every damn one of them chooses Stamkos. Besides a top dman, what is this teams biggest need? Answer: a guy who scores goals. Stamkos scores them. A lot. More than Radulov can ever dream of. He is also a franchise center. If you haven't noticed, we've been lacking a true #1 center ever since the decline of the eurotwins has begun.

    Mantha

Mantha's final numbers for the year: 79 games played 27 goals 32 assists 59 points. If he can put up those type of numbers at the NHL level we have a stud. He and Lil Bert carried the Griffs in the PO's.

I saw bits and pieces of the game (most of the 1st, half of the 2nd and 3rd). I flipped back to the game about 30 seconds after the OT goal....that happens when the goal is scored in the first 40 seconds. The level of scrutiny Crosby has been under is pretty incredible though. So many people just can't get past goals and assists. I totally get it, that's what he's paid to produce, but he was a monster out there for a lot of the shifts I saw, only thing missing was getting the puck past the goalie (which is the most important I guess). Anyway, I did see the aftermath and they made a pretty big deal out of Crosby having 47 career playoff goals, but that was his 1st career playoff OT goal. Funny stat, Mario Lemieux didn't score a single playoff OT goal in his career.

Lol. True.Stamkos when at his best, has been regardes as the 2nd or 3rd best player. I guess you really shouldn't pass on that. But I do think our chance of signing Radulov+Okposo is higher than getting Stamkos.

Yeah, Frk and Tangradi were huge loses but I was happy to see Svechnikov get a couple games. He's going to be a good one for sure. The future is bright with a few of these kids.

Can't believe we let that game go ... We had that game 7 in our hands and blew it

Disappointing Frk and Tangradi got hurt, I mean, nice that Svechnikov got some games under his belt and all, but the other two really would've helped the PP tonight. Plus I wanted to see some more of Frk before training camp.

I wish they reported possession metrics for the AHL. I'd love to see how the young guys shape up in that department. I'd imagine Sproul and Russo lead the way, but it would be cool to see how they stack up against the rest of the league.

I've said all season that Sproul has been one of our best defensemen down in Grand Rapids. He's far better than both Marchenko and Ouellet in my opinion. I get that Marchenko has been ahead of him because he's "safer", but Sproul has cleaned up his defensive game a ton. Sproul's offensive puck possession game far exceeds Marchenko's defensive shut-down game in my opinion...

Great. Awesome. Go write about it in your Gustav Nyquist fan blog before you tuck yourself into bed under your Gustav Nyquist goose down comforter so you can have Gustav Nyquist dreams about Gustav Nyquist scoring 1 Gustav Nyquist point every 300 minutes of Gustav Nyquist playoff hockey. I don't care anymore.
