Ugh. I really hate to get into the trade for Trouba hype, but this just makes too much sense to me. We need a young righty defenseman. The Jets want an established left shooting defenseman, and the Ducks want(ed?) a left wing PP specialist? To Detroit: Trouba To Winnipeg: Fowler To Anaheim: Nyquist+ -

I'll send you a link, I'm pretty sure it'll work but the quality may not be the best. You should also check out Reddit close to game time for a high-res feed. -

Pitts roster looks super weak. Hoping Blashill keeps that AA-Larkin-Mantha line together -

I think Nyquist alone "should" get us Fowler, but I don't think it would... That's why I would be willing to throw in a Marchenko or Ouellet to get it done. Then flip Fowler and a high pick (1st or 2nd) for Trouba. Makes perfect sense for all three teams in my opinion... -

I'd move Dekeyser for Trouba in a one for one swap, because as GM I'd be rebuilding and in 3 years a 25 year old Trouba would be more valuable to me than a 29 year old Dekeyser if he comes close to his ceiling. -

I would not. I like the 3 team deal....but I'm greedy and want both Trouba and Fowler. -
1 pointTrade value in the NHL is a tricky thing, one trade may effect the market, but it does not define it. If it did then the Tyler Seguin trade would have had a huge ripple effect. Just because Chiarelli and Bergevin made dumb trades (ie. Seguin/Hall and Subban trades) it doesn't mean that everyone else will. A player is only as valuable as the team that is trading for him makes him out to be. If we were in June, I think the market for Trouba would have been sky high. So many teams with so much cap space, really anything could happen and likely Winnipeg would have been given a big offer, I can see why Winnipeg's fans are pretty pissed with the handling of this situation. We all saw it first hand with the horrible trades made by both Montreal and Edmonton. With that being said, what Trouba's value is now in September is not necessarily the same as what it was back in June. It could be even higher (doubt it), it could be lower, it all depends on what teams are willing to trade. In addition, one other thing people are not taking into consideration here is the fact that Trouba is an unsigned RFA who is requesting a trade at a very young age, this is a turn off to a lot of GM's. Winnipeg can trade him wherever they want, but the team that trades for him is going to want some assurance that Trouba is going to sign for a rate they can afford. If Trouba and his camp don't give that to them, that is a problem. My gut tell me that Trouba will not go to Detroit, because I think some team out there will offer a package better then what we can offer if we are not going to include Larkin, Mrazek, and DD. Though, I definitely think we have a shot as we are a team I believe Trouba would love to come to as we are in his home state, we have a lot of good young talent, and he would instantly be our #1D. We will have to wait and see what happens.

1 pointPretty much exactly what I said earlier... I just really feel like I'm going to be disappointed when nothing materializes out of all of this. Unfortunately I just don't see Holland pulling off a trade of this magnitude. If he were able to somehow pull this off, it would put us a year or two ahead in this rebuild...

I think Tatar is a notch above Nyquist. They're similar types and I think their production will be fairly similar (depending on usage, of course). The thing I notice about Tatar just seems to be a greater drive and he seems to create pressure and offensive more from my view. Maybe that can be represented by corsi or something. Nyquist's penchent for chicken-winging to get a hooking call and some diving has also kind of made me turn against him a bit, but that doesn't really make him a lesser player - it just bothers me. I know every player does it to a certain extent, but he does do it a lot. Good for Tats in this tournament. Hopefully he and Mrazek will be boosted by some confidence going into the year With Team Europe doing so well, I think it's good evidence against Frank and other's assertion that us getting a whole bunch more Michigan players will lead to better chemistry. Here you have players from 8 countries who seem to have found some pretty good chemistry. Edit: I think it's interesting that the advisory board that helped chose the team included Lidstrom and Alfredsson and they must not have pushed for Nyquist. Then again, it's ultimately not their choice and Gus did have a down year. -

1 pointFor those that like to s*** on Cleary and / or Holland for keeping him around for so long, maybe you should read / listen to some of the interviews by Holland, Martin, or Cleary himself over the past week or so. It's very clear that he's doing a great job with the kids in Grand Rapids, in particular, Bertuzzi. I think Cleary may be a big factor in Bert's success thus far. Like him or not, Cleary is a stand up guy, with an unbelievable work ethic, and if that rubs off on any of the prospects, even a little bit, he's well worth yet another contract. The kids love and respect the guy, and rightfully so. Keep up the good work in GR Cleary, even if most of what you do down there is off the ice...
