According to my calculations, Sheahan scoring a goal tonight would rip a hole in the fabric of reality and propel us to three straight Cups.

Glendening from E!! no one would have called that.

Is it National "troll the fans" day? Mrazek in net, lines look rough, not entirely hopeful for this one. Maybe we get lucky and E puts in a goal or two off his shin or skate for us against their goalie for once. Woohoo LGW!! Can't wait to see how this one pans out.

Marchenko was was sitting in the pressbox as our 8th d-man. It appears all of DD, Green, E, Jensen, Sproul, XO, Kronwall, and Smith were above him on the depth chart. With that being said, he and his expendable caphit are better off gone. He had no value. I'd rather have Kronwall in the lineup then Marchenko at this point. It doesnt make sense to have an inferior kid in the lineup over a vet unless the kid has upside. Marchenko doesnt have much upside. As far as losing Sproul, that's not what happened, so lets not turn this into something its not.

I'm all for trading E, and I admit Kronwall is on his last legs and will likely be put on LTIR sooner then later, but moving a well liked vet who has been with your team for 10 plus years to the AHL is a big move. I am not against doing it in the right situation, but doing it to save Marchenko a guy that has no future here and is likely not even now as good as either of them is not that right situation. If we were talking Sproul, different story, but we arent.

This. We have defensemen in Grand Rapids that are much better than Marchenko right now. Next time we have to call up a Griffin, do we want it to be the unspectacular defensive minded Marchenko, just because he's the safe guy with experience? Or do we want the smart, offensive minded Russo? I can't speak for everyone, but I'd much rather get rid of that hurdle and let Russo be the next guy in line for a call up... Really hope a team claims Marchy tomorrow. I would be right there with people with pitchforks if it were Sproul that were waived, but Marchenko is not a big loss by any stretch. I'd even say it's addition by subtraction...

And a player that is basically a spare part on an NHL team has no value in the trade market. If he can't crack this defense, he sure as hell won't crack anyone else's. I am certain that if he does get claimed, he will be waived by the team that claims him before the year ends. You can quote me on that.

We don't expect to see better results, we just expect to see proper development of our young players. Hard for that to happen when Blash punishes the kids for each little mistake, yet let vets reek with mediocrity all season long without losing their spot. We wanna see guys like Jurco and Sproul play, take their lumps and learn from it. Become better players. They are not going to improve as healthy scratches every night. We need a coach who has the balls to not be afraid to lose until the kids learn how to win. Blash has proven to not be that guy for nearly two years now. The experiment needs to end.

If he scores a goal, he should throw his gloves and stick in the air like he just scored a Cup clinching goal in OT. The other team wouldn't like it, but I think in this case it's warranted.

Yeah, couldn't cover the post and it squeeks in. His positioning has been awful all game.

Kronwall was a big part of this team for a long time yes, but he's no longer useful as a player. Marchenko, while nothing special, is a useful able bodied right handed Dman. We all know Kenny's loyalty knows no bounds, and that's a huge reason he's in the mess he's in, and it doesn't seem like he's learned that yet. Marchenko wouldn't be a big deal to lose, but I am worried he'd expose someone like Sproul instead of Kronwall, and maybe even Errorsson if it came down to it.

Need to score at least 5 when Mrazek is in net.

Why would a team trade an asset for a guy who projects to be a 7th man on most teams and holds a cap hit of 1.45mil for 2 years. They can likely get a player who is cheaper and has higher upside from their farm team. Not to mention, maybe Holland did offer him for a 7th and nobody wanted him for that. if he goes unclaimed tomorrow, I think that proves it. Personally I'm hoping he gets claimed. I dont want that cap hit and we are loaded with low end d-men.

Ericsson has trade value, despite what many folks believe. Sure the Wings will have to retain salary in any deal for him, but as far as assets go, he will bring in more than Marchenko ever could. He isn't worth anything. He has been a healthy scratch on this current roster. He has no potential that is worth anything. He'll be a solid defensive dman at best. Those are a dime a dozen in UFA. No team is going to give up an asset for a dman with such limited potential. Right-handed or not. This is a win. I was worried Sproul might be the odd man out. Hopefully, once they realize this team won't sniff the playoffs, they'll give the kid some ice time.

    2017 Draft

I agree. If there's any way we can land a Hamilton, Trouba, Faulk using our first and maybe a young defenseman, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I don't see Holland making (or even inquiring) such a trade...

    2017 Draft

If this is a weak year like most are saying, maybe we should consider trading the pick. I am not a believer if drafting someone top 5, just for the sake of being able to say you drafted someone top 5. If we can trade the pick for a potential 1A d-man, I am all for it.
