    Off-season moves

Looks like we're still in the running for Vanek. I'd love to have him back. He played really well with us and if our season goes south again, we can always trade him again. http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2017/07/12/detroit-red-wings-thomas-vanek/471942001/

Tatar is mediocre? He's one of the few players we have that has natural scoring ability. Give him a long term deal.

A lot of people pretty confident that we trade Green this year. I wouldn't be at all shocked if he's not moved at the deadline, nor would I be shocked if we extend him beyond this season.

No. I wouldn't. I'm okay with the Wings proposed $5M x 5. If Tatar insists on $6M, the most I'd give him is 3 years. Otherwise, let it go to arbitration and do whatever you can to move him this season for a defenseman.

Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals

Word going around that we're still talking to Vanek and he wants to come back...not sure how that'll work with Tatar and AA getting the rest of the cap...unless there's about $4.75M going on LTIR.

Definitely above average for goal scoring. Even If you only consider top 6 forwards as potential scorers, that's 180 guys in the league (6X30). That 31st ranking in goals for the past 3 years puts him solidly in the top quarter as a top 6 scorer.

Right but he's not even a top 20 or 25 or top 30 goal scorer. So he's above average I guess?

Nobody's arguing that he's elite. That would be the top 10 guys

I think most would agree with this. An argument can be made for any / all of Nielsen, Abdelkader, Helm, Glendening, Ericsson being bad contracts. The thing that people disagree with is Tatar being one of those "bad" players (contracts).

Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals

He's far more talented than the grinders Holland rewarded, but he's not from Michigan or Western Canada so they play hardball with him. The new way of doing business in Detroit is valuing hard working guys with limited ability who are from the Right Places over talent. Sent by my minions via telepathy

Funny thing is that he is average mediocre talent...he'll fit right in with the rest of them 5, 7 years who cares.

Been liking what I've heard about cholowski so far. That was a swing for the fences pick by Detroit. Either he is gonna be a major bust or a major steal. Hoping for the latter.

Hopefully he's not still keeping Helm's neighbors up with all those 4 AM workouts

I agree with everything you said except for this... Mantha WILL be a 30-goal man. We know this.

The guy is nuts. You call Detroit and tell them bulls***! Trade him right ******* now! In all seriousness, get AA signed and then deal with Tatar.
  22. 1 point
He filed for arbitration, he can't get an offer sheets. He saw what grinders like Abdelkader and Helm get from Holland and thinks he should get significantly more, or he wants out and is using this to force the Wings' hand. Either way I don't want him for $6 mil per. Let him go. Sent by my minions via telepathy
