The way I see it mrazek has won several games for us this season by standing on his head, when the rest of the team was snoozing at times. Tonight mrazek wasn't at his best but the guys all stepped up and won this game for mrazek. King Henrik , price, rinne and quick have all had games like this. When it came down to it in the 3rd petr made a few timely key saves to keep us in the lead. The game wasn't pretty but the team came together. Like others have said petr always responds with a lights out game after a rough outing so I would actually like to see petr play again tomorrow. I think he will see lots of rubber tomorrow being back to back and he will be up to the task.

Just wanna top off the night by saying that this game was more than two points. 3-4 something in my opinion as we won over a direct division rival, ie we got two they lost two. I'd like to hear whatup with Mrazek tonight, I for one do think he was slightly hungover. Doesn't take much, even a small one can hamper the hand-eye coordination, especially at the NHL level.

C'mon guys! It's "Hockey Day in America" Get with the program. Islanders will be looking for a win to get out of that Wild Card spot. We need a win to keep pace with or gain points on FLA - who also play today - as well as extend our points lead on BOS and TBL. More than anything else, I want a solid game from Jimmy Howard and the team to play a tight, crisp game in front of him. that's not what I call it. I have to work, as do most people. A noon game on a "holiday" which only federal and some state employees get? Seriously? The "Team in red" as NBC calls them (aka the Red Wings) will have their work cut out for them. For those of you who are retired or otherwise exempt from working for a paycheck.... enjoy.

Potential. If another teams feels he is better then someone on their active roster, why wouldn't they claim him? You gain an asset for nothing. Andrej Nestrasil was claimed with only 13 games experience. Just because you are not good enough to make the Wings roster, doesn't mean you are not good enough to make the Oilers roster, or Jets roster, or Blue Jackets roster etc. I know some like to create the narrative that we are awful, but as it stands we are 8/30 in the NHL. This team can be harder to make then others. Please don't confuse this as me saying "teams will be lining up to get him", as that is not what I am saying. What I am saying is that I could see ONE team taking a shot at him if he goes on waivers.

Okay, maybe the boys are sad they aren't getting any Valentine's Day love. (Hey, I'll do ANYTHING.)

Comparing a goalie who hasn't had a good game since like october to a goalie that's played with best stats in the NHL as of late?

Ouellet has top 4 potential, and Jensen won't even make an NHL roster as a 7th defenseman... Got It!

Maybe he was given the option and didn't want the rest. Wanted to finish the game. He strikes me as that type of player. Goalies are coddled way too much nowadays anyways. Tonight he needed the team to bail him out for once. He'll shake this one off and come out strong and confident next game as he usually does.

Well, I admit, I am in Jensen's court. Everytime I see him play he looks the best and most poised of the kids they have, and that included XO and Marchy when they were all in GR. But, obviously there is something holding him back. He'll have a job someday in the NHL and I hope its in Detroit, if not, then oh well, I am sure they know what's best for the team. He always does so well in training camp too....oh well.

Wow, what a nail biter. Glad to see the Wins pull out the W. And though none of us will ever know, if it happens that Petr was hungover from his birthday celebration, and that is why he looked like s*** today, hopefully he learns a valuable lesson from this and never does that s*** again.

I'm not sure anyone is going to question who the number one is at this point. Even the best goalies get pulled, there's still no doubt they're the best.

I disagree. Standard protocol for as long as I can remember was if a goalie is playing poorly, he gets yanked. The only time that it stirs up controversy is if the goalie getting yanked gets yanked regularly and there's reason to suspect his job is on the line. I can't imagine letting in 6 goals is much better for his confidence than letting in 3 and getting pulled anyway.
