We're all overlooking the simple solution: Out-bid them. The place hasn't been finished yet, so if one of the people who are "outraged" by this offered more than the expected price, that person would have the naming rights. Oh, no one has the money? Neither did Mike and Marian until they started Little Caesar's and earned it.

I hope we can move his contract, but if it requires us giving up good assets, then screw it. We are not going to win the cup next year, so why sacrifice the future for cap relief for 1 year. If we are in a situation where its either sign Stamkos AND give us assets, or keep the caphit and not get Stamkos, then sure I would do it. But if its a situation where its trading his contract to get cap space, then getting more Qunicey's and Richards, I would rather not lose the future assets unless we are talking a 7th round pick or something pretty insignificant (ie. a very low-end prospect).

As I said before, I'd like to take Lucas Johansen with our 2nd round pick and take Kenny Johnson in the 4th or 5th round as a sleeper pick... Not surprised that Bean is rising, but very surprised that Chychrun is falling. I say we go hard after him. Trade Pulkkinen or Ouellet to move up a few spots if he's still available at 10-12...

Greenway would be a good 3rd rd pick if we had one....... Going to college which gives us extra time on the development side.

The rumors that one of the Ducks young defensemen might be available came out when they were struggling to score early in the year. It was rumored they wanted to pick up a scoring winger. They have several good young D they might use to get one. Nyquist is one of the top young wingers in the league, regardless of what you may think. He's not elite, but neither is Fowler. Now, the Ducks did find their scoring touch in the 2nd half, so maybe they're no longer interested in a trade like that. And even if they are, Lindholm or Vatanen would be moved first I'm sure. But in the context of the rumors, it does make some sense. And in the Datsyuk trade, he was giving up Pulkkinen as incentive. You may not think anything of him, whatever. If a team is looking to add cap to reach the floor, it shouldn't take much of an incentive. It wouldn't be doing us a favor. Datsyuk's cap hit would be something they actually want, since it would save them real money.

Look I wanted Suter and Parise as much as everyone but the fact is they decided to sign elsewhere for hometowm reasons. Yeah Suter is from Wisconsin but his career took of in Minnesotta and his wife is from Minnesotta, same with Parise. I just hope the Wings are staying away from signing Vanek if the Wild decide to buy him out. The problem wasn't so much that Parise and Suter went to another place it was - and still is -t he fact that this front office had no blan B, C ready it was Suter or bust. Now the way to starting fixing this mess is trading into the top 10 and get that young stud, known as Jacob Chychrun. But knowing our luck the Oilers will trade the pick for Hamonic and then take Chchyrun at 8...which gives them Nurse, chchyrun and Hamonic booom defense fixed.

who cares if it's named after restaurant? Like was mentioned before, airline companies and banks are way more corrupt than little ceaser's, yet nobody complains about stadiums being named after those companies I'm surprised more people don't realize how much little ceaser's has been involved in promoting and developing youth hockey in michigan. That alone makes it a better choice than a lot of other companies imo

It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Wouldn't a regular roof make much more sense as a placeholder? It feels like a bait and switch to the city of Detroit. The way that press conference went, it came across like they never had any intentions of building the LED roof.

You misread my entire post. My stats showed the Oilers did better without McDavid when he was injured than with him when he came back. McDavid didn't bring the Oilers out of the crap team they are and neither will Mathews. My points is Toronto won't simply turn it around with Mathews or one or two other players. They need a lot more than that (for starters having Nazem Kadri has your center is a mistake). Which goes back to my original point that they will not win a cup under Babcock's current contract. I'm willing to take bets on this matter - I stated this twice already this year in the forums. The Maple Leafs will not win the Stanley cup under Mike Babcocks current contract. Edmonton has been tanking for years and have plenty of young promising players but somehow ALWAYS seem to miss the playoffs. What makes you think the Maple Leafs will turn it around in 3 years? Don't tell me Babcock. He had a hall of fame roster with both experienced vets and 2 best forwards in the league from 2005-2012 and only won once.

If they came out and said LED lights are a go... the stadium is back to being badass. Otherwise it's just any other arena. I guess I think it's just too plain right now. The LED lights were something to brag about. Honestly I was fine with JLA and didn't feel like a new arena was necessary. The LED lights is what sold me when they came out with the presentation couple years ago.. I was like DAM!!!!!

the overreaction to this is quite hilarious can't imagine what the reaction would be if an actual fraud company like amway got the naming rights. heck, there should be more hatred towards airline companies and banks. these companies have been ripping people off for years little ceaser's has been associated with hockey in michigan for decades all the way back to the 70's with the start of the little ceaser's amateur league. Little Cesar's has done more to promote and devleop hockey in this area than any other company it's a shame people are using something so petty such as their dislike of the pizza as the reason why the arena shouldn't be named after little Ceaser's

Edmonton moved down to FOURTH?? Oh man it really sucks to be them. When the hell is the league gonna ban them from having any more first rounders until they start showing a huge improvement? Their stockpile of great young players and prospects is unreal. There's no excuse for them to keep finishing so low in the standings. If the problem is coaching and/or management, then fix it and start playing to potential. If they need to fill holes in the lineup, trade assets and get what's needed. Such bulls***.
