I just want to chime in and say this Joe Louis history is all genuinely interesting and I didn't know some of this stuff

I'll point out the obvious here: there is no reason to expect Pulkinnen to score 20 NHL goals unless he learns to hit the net, skates better, gets bigger and stronger (or maybe he just plays small?), and somehow manages to shave a second or two off of his telegraphed-way-in-advance-slap shot. And even then he's a one trick pony with a skill that you can only really get away with if you're Ovechkin.

Note: Schmeling was married to a czech actress, had a jewish manager and refused the Nazi order to split. They exploited him for their s*** like many other sports- and show stars, but he was never one of them. Just a good guy, he partially paid for Joe Louis funeral too, if I recall correctly.

I hope we keep Frk as our 13th/14th forward going into next season. If we're trading for a defenseman, Vatanen is way down on my want list, but that's just my opinion. I think he's overrated...

If injury is what prevents Kronwall from playing, they'll have him sit out his contract on LTIR rather than retire. Much like Franzen. If there is a cap recapture penalty involved, I'd imagine management would do whatever it takes to avoid it.

Hats off to Lakeview, the cozy little barn on the shore of Lake Superior, that beat out a rink in Calgary to be this year's Kraft Hockeyville arena and they get $150K in arena upgrades/fixes and a preseason NHL game. I spent many many nights at Lakeview as an NMU underclassman enjoying those Wildcats. Dallas Drake and Jim Hiller, former Wings, both played there.

Eichel had only 8 more points than McDavid, in 36 more games. I don't think it takes any ifs and assumptions to say that McDavid was the better player. If he wins it I wouldn't like it, but I think he deserved the nomination. I also think Gost should win. Phenomenal performance for a rookie defenseman.

I know there are some PIT fans losing their minds he is suspended at all, pointing to similar hits their players have taken in this series alone and calling for Ovechkin to get suspended the next time he does something similar (which they say happens almost every game). So, they are obviously biased, but do have a small point. The rationale in the video was weird...no illegal contact with head, etc....explanation boils down to suspension due to interference...which is why some of them are losing their minds. Honestly, I would have been fine with no suspension, but prefer a suspension as a point of ensuring people get the message...consistency is the main point I look for. 3 games for that would have been grossly inconsistent with past rulings, including one just a few days ago (Orpik).

I don't think they're against McDavid as much as they are against the joke shortlist that the league popped out. Panarin - He's 24, turning 25 this year, and has played 4 and a half seasons in the KHL. No Jack Eichel. Wtf? Five years younger than Panarin, second in goals and points amongst rookies behind Panarin, and in his first pro season of any kind. Nope, not included. Ok....
