    Conflict in the Crease

No it doesn't, we're average. Saying we stink is just hyperbole. Go to the league standings, we rank in a 4 way tie for 11th place. We look great some games, we look bad some games. We win 6 in a row, we lose 5 in a row. We are an average middle of the pack team with a ceiling of probably 2nd or 3rd in our division, and a floor of probably missing the playoffs from anywhere between 1 - 10 points. We are not a contender, we are not a lottery team.

Until the playoff streak ends, vets will always play over the kids. It sucks, but nobody in management has the guts to fully invest in a youth movement.

A conversation that did not happen in 2008: "Sorry Ozzy, I know Hasek been playing badly and you've been playing very well, but we're still going to go with him for the rest of these playoffs anyway because thinking that you could currently be the better option is the gambler's fallacy."

I've reached the point where I think it's coaching. Blashill was an exciting concept, but in practice he's been nothing but a disappointment in regards to his decisions. Combine that with how horribly disjointed the team looks, and all the players we have under performing, I reach the conclusion that it's his "structure", or total lack thereof. What a pathetic looking game.

Jimmy was bound to fall back to earth eventually. Mantha looked good before the game got out of hand. I know it's preaching to the choir, but what does Marchenko have to do to come out of the line-up? Sproul and Ouellet have both been much better this year. I'd say both of them should be in for March and Kronwall, but especially the second one will never happen. His puck movement is still solid, but he's a complete boat anchor when opposing forwards force him to turn and defend.

So whats our record since Kronwall has returned? I think Sproul needs to be back in....of course it doesn't help our 2 best players are injured right now.

Shame, no effort, outplayed and outcoached... Dave Lewis anyone?

    Be honest..

The thing is, with the stockpiling of talent Holland has done over the last few years, this team could be a lottery team for 1 or 2years and be right back in the hunt. The depth is there, talent is there, we just lack that elite talent. Draft one or two guys in the top 10 (or even top 5), and the assets are there to make the moved needed to fix the defense. To sum things up, I'd be fully on board seeing the team suck for a shot at Nolan Patrick. If the streak ended in any of the last few years, I'd have been heartbroken. This season I just feel ready for it. As a fan, I am within a window where I am prepared for a basement season and a clean slate. This is because the alternative is to keep the streak going and be stuck in mediocrity for a bunch more years.

    Be honest..

Given those two options, I think most (if not everyone) would pick option 2... the problem is, there's an option in between the two extremes...

The market determines a player's trade value, not the suckage of a team. With Holland as the GM, there will ALWAYS be another team willing to pay more.

Wow... Couldn't even score one to break the shutout... What pathetic showing. Hopefully the boys meditate on this, regroup, and get their s*** together.

    This is all Mantha's fault.

ROTFL at the Habs crowd chanting Carey Carey... as if he's had to do ANYTHING at all this game.

Meanwhile, Columbus has put up 8 on St. Louis and the game isn't over. Where did they find their Offense and what can we buy for Detroit so they can do the same?

I hate that I have heard their goal horn three times so far....

On a positive note, aside from that giveaway, Mantha has looked every bit an NHL player so far

Lundqvist was an example. I could have used other starters as examples. The point was the starter designation. You don't just give the job away because your backup has suddenly learned how to play to the best of his ability again after 2-3 years of forgetting how to. Either way, it seems only one person gets what i'm trying to say here. Forget it. Lol As expected.
