    Therrien out, Julien back in...

Therrien is the worst; this is a major upgrade for the Habs. It must be nice having a GM who does stuff. I've forgotten what that's like.

Exactly, which is what brings his value up. The guy wants to cash in this offseason, what better way then to kill it in the playoffs. Look what a good playoff run did for Bickell as just one example. Can't say I agree with the 3rd liner comment. Right now Chicago has Richard Panik, Nick Schmaltz, and Artem Anisimov in their top 6. Vanek makes that top 6 if he's on Chicago and you dont get much better then Chicago.

Why do you feel Vanek will get a "minimal return"? I'm sorry, but this sounds like "woe is me" type of thinking. Last year Roman Polak and Nick Spalling got 2 second round picks. There is no reason to think that Vanek will not net us a good return.

OR you bring in a new coach who actually utilizes his players properly, and then trade them when that have some value. I don't believe that all of our players broke at the same time.

Not sure. I would hope it would be for the rest of the season. Nevermind they have the patches for the away jerseys too.

First home game since Illitch's passing. Win it for Mike! LGW wings win 4-3 in a shootout. Larkin and Tarasenko with a hatty apiece & AA with the shootout winner

Yeah, we'd definitely have to give up a fair bit if we wanted any of those guys. They are looking for help up front, and I think they'd probably want one of the big three (Larkin, Athanasiou, or Mantha), but maybe something along the lines of Tatar / Nyquist and Saarijarvi / Hronek could get us Montour...

Yeah the only problem is that Montour is exempt from the expansion draft.. no way they move him. The ducks have a REAL bright future on their blue line if they keep Fowler, Lindholm, Vetanen, Montour, and Theodore together. Maybe in a couple years when a few of them are due for raises we can snag one.

I can't tell if you are trolling, or if you honestly believe that a sample size of 3 teams over a period of 3, 4 and 11 games is concrete evidence statistically speaking. If it's the first, I am not going to engage, if it's the latter, its pointless to debate with you. Out of curiosity, did Florida get better? You forgot to mention them in your deep analysis. I will say this, if you have a bad coach and you hire a better coach, or if you have a coach that losses the room and you hire one who the players listen to, then sure making a coaching change is likely a good move. Your statement "doesn't everyone see it doesn't matter who you replace coach with 99% of time it works!!" flat out says is that it doesn't matter who you replace a coach with, things will get better which is one of the most incorrect statements I have ever read on this board. Look at our own team, we replaced Babs with Blashill and we regressed big time. Year after year teams go through coaching changes for a variety of reasons, sometimes they get better, sometimes they stay the same, sometimes they regress. To say you will get any of these particular results 99% of the time is just wrong on so many levels.

The Blues won 3 games AND the Bruins won 4 games after firing their coaches??? Clearly this small sample proves it. Open and shut case boys. Fire the entire coaching staff. We might still have a shot at the postseason now that we've discovered this one weird trick that GMs dont want you to know.

We could literally go 0-82 next season and Holland wouldn't fire Blash based on "loyalty" (which drives 99& of his management decisions). Only exception to this was firing of Dave Lewis but I think it was more mutual.

Is that what we are calling bad moves now lol. Take away Carey Price and this team is nothing special, just look at last season.

I watch him every game since he plays at Saint Cloud state and I have season tickets to him. Start of the year he was brutal but over the last month-month and a half, he's playing so much better. Looks to finally settle into college hockey.

I actually think Babs used E appropriately. A conpliment to a top piece like Kronwall. Now that Kronwall sucks thou E is just as useless. Blash hasnt learned

Mike Ilitch passes away at age 87

Quote from Steve Yzerman: "Both Mr. and Mrs. Ilitch, as well as their entire family, have had an immeasurable impact on not only my career, but my life," Yzerman said in a statement. "Going back to the age of 18 when I arrived in Detroit, the guidance, generosity, concern and love Mr, Ilitch had always shown me and my family are things I will forever be grateful for. “I was extremely fortunate to have played my entire career for a man who's love of hockey and burning desire to win were the catalysts which drove the Detroit Red Wings to four Stanley Cup Championships after purchasing the team in 1982. “Mr. Ilitch has left an incredible legacy in baseball, hockey and Metropolitan Detroit. He will forever be remembered for all the ways he enriched our lives. Mike Ilitch will live on vividly in my mind and heart forever.”

    Goodbye Ken Holland?

Seriously? Look at some of the trades and acquisitions he's made. Signing Tyler Johnson to an entry level contract in 2011. Drafting Kucherov in the 2nd round in 2011. Drafting Palat in the 7th round in 2011. Drafting Killorn in the 3rd round in 2012. Trading a 4th round pick and Cory Conacher for Ben Bishop. Trading Kyle Quincey and Sebastien Piche for a 1st round pick. Signing Stralman in 2014 to a 5 year $22 million contract. (about the same contract as Ericsson) Signing Brian Boyle for cheap in 2014. Getting rid of a malcontent in St. Louis in 2014 and getting two high draft picks and Ryan Callahan in return. Keeping both Stamkos and Drouin, despite talks they wanted to go elsewhere. How can you ask such a silly question? What's Holland done during this time period to grow the team?

    Goodbye Ken Holland?

If Holland stays, flips this roster, makes 7 good trades, drafts brilliantly and we win the cup in 2019 somehow it would be all because of Scotty Bowman.
