Beating Chicago never gets old man

My reaction when I saw Sheahan, Miller, Glendening and Callahan in instead of Mantha
  3. 3 points
Mantha out for a lesson? And Sheahan, Nyquist, Helm, Abby, Tatar are all in... Blashill out.

Chicago feed. F*** you, NHL Network.

We played well (at least by our standards) and they played not so well (at least by their standards). The Tatar-Zetterberg-Nyquist line was beastly. Howard was solid. The DeKeyser-Green pairing was poop, but Jensen looked really good overall and Ouellet scored.

Props to the music guys at the Joe, but it's hard to "South Detroit" at this point.

Yea I don't know if the young guys have attitude problems or not but if I was treated like Mantha or AA being referred to as spare parts or randomly being scratched while being a top player on the team I'd be pretty upset. Especially watching dumps like Miller, Sheahan and the other scrubs receive consistent ice time.

I'm on Blashill's side for scratching Mantha. He might not be an amazing coach but if he's using this as a teachable moment for Mantha's own good then I get it. Sometimes young players need it. And there is clearly behind the scenes issues. Maybe Mantha is being a dips*** to his coach and needs some disciplining. Maybe not. As for anyone wondering why Sheahan, Miller aren't scratched, who cares about them. They don't mean a thing to this organization. Mantha/Larkin are going to be the face of this organization they're important and so is their development.

The bummer I was thinking during the game was I feel we can compete like this consistently but we haven't, so it really doesn't matter what I think when the season's results are what they are huh?

    2017 Draft

Well Eden Prairie lost tonight so they'll be playing the 3rd place game which won't be on tv tomorrow. One thing about Middlestadt tonight was he won just about every faceoff he took. He looked faster tonight but was easily knocked off the puck. Grand Rapids did a good job of making him disappear, and when the puck was in his own zone he was often the last player to appear in the picture. He had a few really good passes, but on the PK also tipped a cross ice pass through the low slot right into his own net. He looks like an player but I donno about a top 10 pick. He doesn't dominate his competition like I'd expect from someone who was asked to skip their senior year to play D1 or anything like that. But that's from my small sample size. For what it's worth Grand Rapids is also a pretty awesome team, and each forward on their top line has around 55 points, one of them over 60 and their 6'4" goalie was phenomenal all night.

Hmm, so all we had to do was sit our 5-on-5 scoring leader to get the scoring started. So, Jurco has 5 Blackhawk games under his belt and is still pointless on the season.

I wonder how many goals against Dekeyser will be responsible for tonight and not sit against the Rangers? No matter how much this dumb f*** coach bugs me, I always want to beat Chicago so LGW!!

Exactly. How can you sit Mantha for poor play yet DK and Sheahan are in every night
  21. 1 point
I pretty much agree with you on this but Sheahan and Miller are still a part of this team and therefore should be held accountable by their play. It does not look good to punish your good young players for making mistakes and learning when the vets on the team make the same mistakes, even worse mistakes and still get big minutes.

The Buck Stops WHERE? With WHOM?

It would not surprise me if Hitch was brought in. He's of the Scotty Bowman mold and could potentially turn things around if he wants to work for another 5-10 years.

Haven't had much hockey after then in the last few years anyway... To me, both Holland and Blashill need to go. Holland is very obviously in over his head in the Salary Cap world, and I'm sincerely hoping he walks after his contract is up next year. Blashill has seen significant player regression in his 2 years here. Obviously, much of that lies on the shoulders of the players themselves, but the coach has to be responsible (read: Held Responsible) for that regression as well. The roster is too talented to be playing as poorly as we are playing. It's too bad Montreal jumped on picking up Claude Julien. Would have liked to see him have a chance with this roster.

Troy is like 25 -30 min drive away, so no, it's not within walking distance. I went to Sterling heights by bus, which is close by, and it was almos t a 2 hour trip. If you want to get Red Wings stuff I highly recommend going to Fanatic U they have a 40% in store discount this week and a bunch of cool stuff, so you could go to their main store in Garden city, there's even a mall relatively close by so you can kill two birds with one stone there. Otherwise Downtown has everything you need. *Sidenote: IF you are a Jack White/White Stripes/Raconteurs/DeadWeather fan, "Third Man Records" (Jack White's label) is on Cass Corridor in midtown close by Wayne State University. It's a small place but a must IF you're a fan. ^Yo SetecX!!!
