That is a very weak argument given the fact McDavid is so young and the sky's the limit. Nobody ever disputed (correct me if I'm wrong Kickazz) that McDavid does not have the higher ceiling, the dispute is who is better. The question to ask is if you could sign either player to a 1 year deal for the exact same cap hit, knowing that whomever you sign is going to leave after that 1 year, and you had a 100% guarantee that your choice would be healthy for an entire season, who would it be. Personally, I believe Stamkos, and I believe most GM's would choose Stamkos as well. If I am Calgary and I either have to trade the #6 pick for Fleury, or a 7th rounder for Howard, I am choosing Howard without a question.

Bishop would make the flames so much better ha.. Wonder what they'd have to give up. Holland has probably talked to any team in need of a goalie and they all have a plan A that isn't Howard. Him making the argument for keeping Howard is probably a combination of that type of knowledge mixed with trying to get mrazek signed as low as possible.

Most off season excitement is centered around the draft and free agency/the interview period.. The draft and interview period both start this weekend.. This is pretty much the calm before the storm.

Seguin's point totals for the last three seasons, in chronological order: 84 (80 games played) 77 (71) 73 (72) Benn's point totals for the last three seasons, in chronological order: 79 (81) 87 (82) 89 (82) If that isn't elite, I dunno what is. (Seguin put up 67 points in 81 games for the Bruins in the 2011-12 season. And he was drafted second overall. So I wouldn't say he's come out of nowhere. I think Benn is the much bigger surprise, as he was drafted 129th overall.)

As long as Rutherford doesn't cave and give away Fleury, the Flames won't have anywhere to turn but Howard. Unless they want to go with Reimer in FA. I doubt they'd have interest in Pavs contract, I think it would be Howard alone moving to Calgary if anything.

Frank Seravalli makes a good point on Twitter: people using the expansion draft as a reason for Tampa to trade Bishop are wrong, his deal expires next summer so he doesn't need to be protected. Stevie isn't dealing from a position of weakness, why trade Bishop when you're a contender?

The Bishop stuff is pure rumors, a TB insider talked to his agent and said there's been no dialogue. Bishop has a limited NMC, why would an American goalie on a contender want to go to Calgary? Apparently the price on Fleury is the #6th overall pick, which ain't going to happen. Kenny better be in there, Howard would have to be more affordable than the other two and would probably waive to go to Calgary just to be a starter again.

I've been proposing that Holland can do both moves in one swoop ... Calgary. Flames need a starter and they have cap space.

And the family stayed for every one of them. Yet I still don't see any of this on mainstream news like Ali. Total disgrace to give attention to a divisive and controversial figure and not to one of the most stand up human beings and his family of our lifetimes.

I'm really looking forward to this draft. Should be lots of activity. Haven't seen many of the players play very much so I can't say I'm really hoping for any one player. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we don't end up picking at our current position.
