http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2016/05/09/detroit-red-wings-assistant-coaches/84134742/ "Jeff would like to get a couple of assistants a little heavier on experience," Holland said. "With Tony Granato leaving and all the change in the industry, we decided to consider adding two assistants with more experience. Ideally, it will be an offensive guy and a defensive guy." Experience is on the way... Good! -

Great news on Firschweiler. I liked Bedard, but he's been here forever. Any chance Osgood takes over? Would he be any good in a coaching role?... -

It's been one year for crying out loud. Give the guy a break. I'm not going to judge him based on one year. We made it to the playoffs didn't we? How long has Beaudreau been coaching? -

Without his best forward and second best d-man no less. Jim Nill has done pretty well for himself too. Kenny hasn't upgraded the blue line in five years though, so we have that going for us. And a pointless playoff streak. -

Late jockey change at Churchill Downs: The owner has decided it's best if Nyquist gets ridden by Wings fans just like at JLA. -

Ansar Khan @AnsarKhanMLive 3m3 minutes ago #RedWings looking for a goaltending coach after opting not to renew Jim Bedard's contract. He'd been with team for 18 seasons. Wow! Interesting! Ansar Khan @AnsarKhanMLive 1m1 minute ago #RedWings have reassigned assistant coach Pat Ferschweiler, who'll work from press box. They're seeking two new bench assistants. Thank God! -

1 pointI'd prefer an experienced coach. No more rookie coaches for the NHL level please. Blash has got to surround himself with some veteran coaches who are proven for NHL imo. I was questioning Bedard a few months ago as well. We've haven't had consistent goaltending since Osgood in 2009.

FIN 5 vs. GER 1 Pulkkinen didn't factor in on the scoresheet, zero points, zero shots on goal in 15:11 time on ice... SWE 5 vs. DEN 2 Nyquist had a goal and 2 shots in 16:16 time on ice. He also had a 2-on-1 opportunity where he faked the shot, made a perfect spin-o-rama backhand pass, but Wennberg couldn't bury it... FRA 1 vs. SVK 5 Jurco had 2 assists and 1 shot on goal in 13:22 time on ice. -

1 pointI dont disagree with anything you are saying. My exact statement about Yzerman was: Yzerman has done good (maybe great) work in TB, granted he has had issues with star players, but overall a TB fans should be pleased. My point was that comparing Yzerman and Holland just using 2010-2016, is a bit unfair as one team was on the assent, another was on the decent. Both are natural part of the cyclical nature of sports. If you compare any GM's accent to any GM's decent, its going to to great for one, and horrible for the other. If you are erasing Hollands past, and just talking 2010 and on, to truly compare them, you need to let Hollands re-build complete. At that point he will have either failed, or succeeded.

I like Guy Boucher better when he played the villain in Casino Royale. -
1 pointIt seems a bit ironic that you bash the streak while having it as your avatar. Yzerman has done good (maybe great) work in TB, granted he has had issues with star players, but overall a TB fan should be pleased. Nill has done a good job in Dallas, but really hasn't accomplished anything yet. What both of these two have in common, is they took over a team at rock bottom and worked their way up. Yzerman in particular had a pretty solid core in place when he took over. Holland had a team that was headed for a decline, and it did just that. The true test for Holland is how the current re-build works out. Not really fair to compare Holland in the midst of a decline to GM's in the midst of a rise. If anything compare their complete bodies of work, or allow Holland to complete his re-build. If it fails, then I get it. But you cannot expect a team to be cup contenders for 25 straight years.

Lol definitely not sarcasm. I'm shocked that people still don't know what's been going on for nearly a decade. Datsyuk has always had a subpar net front presence , dirty worker on his line. Since 2007 (Tomas Holmstrom). Ya'll in denial or something? Holmstrom Bertuzzi Abdelkader Helm Since 2007 he's had one of those guys on his line. And that includes the two 97 point seasons Datsyuk had. He thrived with players who created space for him. He also had 65 points in 63 games with Helm on his line last year. The best PPG on the roster. -

It's not loyalty. He wants someone to do the dirty work cause he's a playmaker who needs his space on ice. He doesn't care who it is. He needs big guys on his lines. He even liked having Mantha because of the net front presence. Not to mention Holmstrom way back in the day, -

Yeah Datsyuk has said it a hundred tmes he wanted Helm, Abdelkader and when he didnt have them he even went as far as calling out the coaching staff. Do people tunnel vision facts? Like all people do is blame the coaches but in reality Datsyuk is the one who wants certain linemates. Just because ya'll dont like Helm or Abdelkader doesn't mean Datsyuk doesn't. -

Datsyuk WANTED Guys like Abby or Helm on his Wing. And at his age, he needs help with the dirty work. Do not understand why people still ***** about his linemates when it's what he wanted.
