Dylan Larkin Signs ($6.1M x 5 yrs)
Wheelchairsuperhero and 3 others reacted to 13dangledangle for a post in a topic
Jesus Christ I guess some things cant please some people. Ive read negative comments all over social media about this signing and it boggles my brain as there is legit ZERO reason not to be excited for 5 more years of Larkin, and he could have certainly commanded more money if he wanted to. Hes our guy, our future C according to most and someone we can definitely build a winning team around. ….AND he is most certainly NOT Nazim Kadri, I haven't seen DBoss act like a ***** even once. -

Yzerman vs Fedorov. Which one was better?
kickazz and one other reacted to solarion for a post in a topic
Not sure that never giving up on a play is an intangible. I mean Yzerman soundly out scored Fedorov...that's not intangible. It showed up on the scoreboard night after night. Sure Fedorov was a better skater, but did he really have that much better a shot? If he did then how come it didn't relate to a higher goals per game avg? Yzerman 692g 1514gp = .457 goals/game Feds 483g 1248gp = .387 goals/game Perhaps because Fedorov was a great skater and was plainly disinterested at times it's assumed he was more skilled than he was in some regards. Surely he was solid defensively, but Yzerman was no slouch defensively either...as to their shots, I don't know that Sergei's was any better than Stevie's. Frankly, the statistics indicate the opposite may well be the case. Collectively these guys played 2,762 regular season games and after that remarkably large sample size, it's Yzerman and not Fedorov that has the > s% @ 15 vs Fedorov's, still very respectable 12.1. Now that's after > 8500 regular season shots fired...Yzerman scored with more of those shots than Feds. Perhaps because Yzerman did work so hard, his skill is underestimated. Very few players accomplished what he did, and that includes Sergei Fedorov. -

Mantha and Athanasiou's werent "team friendly" either. Why are you singling out Larkin? If prospects not making the team have nothing to do with Larkins contract, why are you in a Larkin contract thread griping about it? Again, you had all offseason to gripe n moan about this, but suddenly Larkins contract has triggered you. If theres no connection, i again ask why youre using this thread to suddenly gripe about it? You would make for a terrible scout. -

Dylan Larkin Signs ($6.1M x 5 yrs)
Wheelchairsuperhero reacted to kipwinger for a post in a topic
I think that's his floor. Which isn't a bad position to be in. But I think his ceiling is probably a bit higher. Especially when he's feasting on all those tasty Zetterberg minutes. Larkin has room for growth on the PP, he's going to get top end wingers now, AND the team in general is going to start producing more as their defense starts to improve. That should be good for another 15 pts. The real question is, is Larkin REALLY the player we saw last season, a 65 pts. guy? Or is he a 55 pts. guy? Because if you add another 15 pts. onto that and you've got his ceiling. He might end up topping out as a 65-70 pts. center, like Ryan Johansen or Toews. Or he might end up an 80 pts. center, though there's really not anybody in that point range who I think has a comparable skillset to him. Also: Kadri is really good defensively and Larkin kinda blows defensively at this point in his career. -

Are you for srs? For one, his contract is fine. Two, what good is having a "1D" when we'd have zero 1C's? -
1 pointLol. Probably known since shortly after his dips*** comments in that Swedish paper. Holland called him up, like: "Hey Z, just wanted to let you know how sorry I was to hear about how crippling your back injury got next year." "What? My back's fi..." "Yeah, must be tough. Also, the internet's a thing, not sure if you knew that. Oh well, see you at your LTIRetirement party next fall."

1 pointGood AAV and term, though I wish the term were longer, glad Larkin's contract is a done deal. I suspect this contract will be a bargain going forward.

Yeah but have you seen Rasmussen with his shirt off yet? Until we get a good look at his pecs/nips, we have no idea if he's willing to pay the price or not. -

Mantha is 6'5", 225lbs, Rasmussen is 6'6", 220lbs. Mantha is also over 4 years older. Rasmussen is still a teenager. I think he'll be fine. He'll likely add a little more mass to that frame (hopefully not too much)... -

Look around the league. Look at other center putting up 60 points or less, making 7, 8, or even 10.5 million (Toews) for less than 60 points. Stastny made 7 million last year for 60 points. Getzlaf made 8.5. He's not robbing the bank here, he has the potential to go up to a ppg, and if he does we have him for a bargain. -

Vanek signed for nearly the exact cap hit as Mantha, so obvious Mantha is done. Only you could be upset by this deal -
1 pointCap hit is great. I would have liked longer term, but we knew he was going to get in the 5-6 year range. Great deal.

That's a good signing. He is the future Captain and should be a perennial 70+ point player starting this upcoming season. $6sh million is the sweet spot for a 60sh point player, so he already fits that criteria with room for growth. -

Larkin is a 1c on a bad team a 2c on a good team. He's very Nazem Kadri like, with a slightly higher ceiling. -

Did I say I was upset with It? It's just not team friendly. But it is Z's salary, which, in order to have Rasmussen up, will have to come from LTIR. Franzen's is all but used up with this contract. If the plan is to keep Rasmussen in the teenage league and Zadina in the AHL, then Ken Holland blew smoke up all your asses because instead of having 2-5 new kids in the lineup, there will be ZERO. Not even on D. So what page of the Holland Guide to GM'ing is this on? Lying to all the fans and signing players we don't need. UNLESS Z is done, then there will be room for 2 new kids. But if Z plays, then no new kids. We have ZERO cap space, 13 Fwds, 6 D. No room for any new kids. Team friendly is 6 years $5M, it's still $30M, but allows for more cap flexibility. Trust me, I am glad he is signed, and sure, it's a good term, but it would be better if it was the same money, less cap hit.
