Not making any excuses. Just pointing out that the biggest criticism of Blashill is rather exaggerated. -

Detroit's first rounder.

The most you can drop is 3 spots. So the worst pick the Wings can end up with in this draft is 10th overall. -

Very small chance these two are brought in. MAYBE Sutter, but no way Illitch gets rid of Holland unless he's bringing in Yzerman. Plus, with Yzerman's future still in doubt in TB (ie. no ext signed) I cant see Illitch bringing in another GM because if Holland stepped down, Lomardi was brought in, then Yzerman became available, this fan base would lose their s***. -

They've won two Cups since Kenny Holland was last relevant. Hope the Ilitch family stops eating peanuts and crackerjacks and starts giving a crap again. -

Jacob Trouba
DRW Dominance and one other reacted to DickieDunn for a post in a topic
I don't see Trouba being worth that. Right now he's the #2 on a non playoff team. Detroit is getting a top 10 pick for the first time in forever, they need to use it and try to hit a home run, either through the draft or by getting a guy who's already a #1. -
1 pointMy wife just shared this video with me, surprised that it hasn't been posted here yet.
-
1 pointThey can win the lottery and get the 1st overall pick.
-
1 pointNot the first time either. After winning the cup in 2014, they missed the playoffs altogether the very next season with largely the same roster. No thanks to Sutter (although I do think he's an upgrade over Blashill).
-
1 pointWhy not? Look at the skill on that team. The team he's assembled for less money than the Wings and double the talent. I'll take both any day.

It was a perfect sendoff for the Joe. Wish I could have been there, the crowd as the game was winding down was awesome. As for the ceremony after, it brought back a flood of memories watching the Wings in my younger days. Would have to say my two favorite moments at the Joe would be the March 26th game against the Avs and winning the Cup in 97. -

Haven't been around these parts in ages (looks like my last post was 3 1/2 years ago) but just wanted to say the Goodbye to the Joe ceremony was amazing (thank god Fox Sports Detroit posted the entire ceremony on youtube). So many great memories and so many former players from the 80s, 90s and the 00s - and not just the stars either. Loved that even the players were soaking it in with many waving to their family in the stands and recording the moment on their phones. It was sad at parts of course as it would have been so great if Gordie and Mr. I. were still around, but if anything the ceremony reaffirmed to me the Red Wings tradition will always live on. From the crowd to the speeches to the final hockey stick salute from the players to the fans and vice versa, it was everything the Wings and the Joe stood for. What a franchise, what a place, what a city. P.S. Come home Stevie! -

I don't know which game it was. I just heard it on the radio and they said it was in 1995. Wikipedia has that too, but doesn't say which game. A good guess would be one of the 2 games at Joe Louis in the final against the Devils. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/red-wings-fans-threw-35-octopuses-ice-joe-louis-arena-farewell-004926074.html Yahoo says it was 35 last night. so close, haha. -

1 pointI gotta say.... This pre-game show is making this awful season a little easier for the fan inside me. It's a great reminder of all of the amazing things that this franchise has done for this city and fans. I'm going to watch every second of this game and then look forward to a brand new start in the LCA next season.

1 pointYou're reaching. A broken leg is no more life-threatening or potentially-permanently-debilitating than a knee injury, and, unless he had some undisclosed bone disease, less likely to recur. Joffery Lupul retired due to sports hernia. Dave Bolland mostly due to an ankle injury (albeit, complicated by a back issue). While that kind of injury is certainly less likely to cause a player to retire, I don't think there's any evidence to suggest it is any more difficult to get LTIR for them. I think Kronwall will try to play next season, and how that goes will determine whether he tries to finish the contract. But if at any time he decides his body can't it, I really doubt any doctor would disagree with him.

Yeah PETA can suck it. If I buy a dead cephalopod, I can eat it, throw it on the ice, or dress it up and have a tea party with 9 tea cups. What happens between a man and his octopus is his own business.
