    Franzen on IR

Holland should sign McGrattan as a shadow buddy for Franzen. He seems like a good teammate and is popular with the ladies for some reason. I feel he can help Franzen get over his anxiety issues. It will help the team in the long run.

What should we do with the Monster?

As this recent rash of injuries has shown, you can never have too much goalie depth. Keep him and let him walk in July. I imagine they'll try and ride a (hopefully healthy and fresh) Jimmy down the stretch, so I'd rather Mrazek go to GRs and play some games and try and help that team into the playoffs. Let Monster warm the bench.

Babcock praised Legwand too, right before making him a 4th line winger. Don't read much into Babcock's comments.

    Time for Teemu?

I really wish I could "quote"... Still have no idea why I can't... Kip, you say "I won't be surprised if he's traded", and yes I did respond by saying, "he shouldn't be traded, he's going to be good", but I also say "there's no way he get's traded". It's not just about what I want or think should happen with this team, it's about what I truly believe Mr. Ken Holland will do. You're absolutely right in that I like this team, and I like a lot of certain players. I guess a lot of that has to do with me watching a lot of them right from when they were drafted, in junior, making their way up to the minors, before eventually cracking the Red Wings lineup... you do tend to get attached to certain players, and I honestly think a similar thing happens with Holland... However, like almost any player, I'm not opposed to trading Pulkkinen at the right price and for the right return, I just don't see that happening... There are not many guys in the entire league that can shoot the puck like Pulkkinen. I put him in the same category as guys like Ovechkin and Stamkos when it comes to his pure sniping ability. There are things he needs to work on for sure, like timing and what not, but his shot alone, not many compare. Bottom line, I just honestly, truly would be shocked if this guy is in any package deal at this years deadline, not because I like him, but because I think Holland and Babcock like him, and see the potential in him... Jesusberg, if a trade is on the table and part of the package has to include one of Mantha, Larkin or Pulkkinen, I honestly think he says, thanks but no thanks. And I'd be happy with that assuming the player on the other end wasn't a superstar talent... I think it is more likely that Jurco gets offered in a trade before Pulkkinen, which I would also hate, because he's another guy that I'm really high on. I guess bottom line is, like Kip alluded to, I like our team, and even more so, I like our future team. Hold on to the kids and keep building. We will be a perennial contender and eventually win the Cup with the kids we currently have in the system, I have no doubt. I completely agree with Buppy.

I would like that option... but if they let people download the movies/shows I really don't think they'd be able to keep the price somewhat low...But it would be cool.

I think people are overreacting (not just here, in the hockey world). The guy barely hits the glass and it shatters. And he does react, just not in complete shock. It's not like he pulled out a battering ram. He reminds me of the boss from floor 3 or 4 on Kung Fu where he just kicks or punches and you die.

Except he'll probably be given a Tim Horton's gift card + 24 of Molson Canadian from the other douchey hockey parents.

That glass has to be old too, Cuz the newer stuff is designed not to shatter like that.So he probably just hit a piece of glass that was primed to go in the sweet spot with his ring.

I think I'd give him the choice of either paying for the glass, or wearing a t-shirt that said "I'm a stupid douchebag" for an entire week. Either one would be fine.

    Time for Teemu?

Given how saturated the Wings are on forward, and the alleged price of a top four defensman these days, frankly I'd be surprised if the Wings traded anybody.

    1. Mantha needs to earn it first - guys like Nyquist, Tatar, Pulks worked very hard and produced before being called up - shouldn't be any different for this guy unless Holland magically decides he gets special treatment 2. There are so many guys ahead of Mantha if there is an injury - right now we have Franzen and Jurco on the sideline and Pulks is clearly ahead of Mantha on the call-up so its not likely that we see him up over those 3 unless we have a string of injuries somehow. 3. The wings will want him to spend time developing properly rather than player lower minutes in Detroit and bouncing around between teams.

    Franzen on IR

But you have evidence to suspect him of "emotional issues"? This whole thread has turned hokey. Why don't we all stick to Franzen and hockey and not try to assassinate/dissect his character. Regardless of how we feel about him on the ice, there is absolutely NOTHING to suggest he's not a decent, committed, hard working, emotionally stable person.

    Time for Teemu?

I suppose the reason I'm saying I wouldn't be surprised if he's traded is because of where he fits onto this team moving forward. Lets say in 3-5 years, who are the Wings potential top six wingers? Nyquist, Tatar, Mantha, Abby, Pulkkinen, and Jurco. Now, he's not really competing with the big bodied guys (Mantha, Abby, Jurco) and Nyquist and Tatar are already proven high scoring NHL players. So as of now, he's the shooting winger on the third line (and obviously a power play specialist) if he continues to develop and have success. I'd never be surprised if a third liner is traded. Particularly if it's for something like a top four defenseman. All I'm saying is that I wouldn't be surprised. Sure he's a shooter, and sure he's right handed. And those things are huge buzz words for the organization. But the shooter thing matters a little less when you've got established goal scorers in Nyquist and Tatar, and an expected goal scorer in Mantha. And the right handedness is more of a need on the back end than the front end. Obviously, you'd like to have both, but if losing a righty up front gains you a righty top four defender, I can see Holland being ok with the trade off.

Which to me, is a good thing. Sure, I'd love to have Yandle, but not at the price it would likely take. And no to Myers, unless it's for Kindl and Andersson...... Let's face it, at times Holland's strategy has looked kinda bleak, but there is no question, the guy knows what he's doing. He is drafting well, developing prospects and once again building a contender, all while never missing the playoffs in 23 years... and counting. I don't think anyone should have any reason to question anything this man does. For every move he makes, there's a reason behind it, and that reason is to make the Detroit Red Wings a better team. He's making the right decisions for the team today, while concentrating on the team 5 years from now. Sure, it would be nice to see a trade from time to time, but the players us fans would want traded (Kindl / Andersson) there isn't much of a market for. The young talent that we have grown to love, probably would have been traded years ago for a quick fix, by most any other GM. Hands down the best general manager in the league today, and quite possibly in the history of the league...

    crazy hockey dad

I remember being at one of those games when I was younger. I was watching my friend John from the stands. John's dad, who we later found out was majorly addicted to coke (and looking back it makes sense), was banned from attending games. So instead of sitting in the stands John's dad would get as close he could to the baseball diamond, aka up against the chain link fence that separates the parking lot from the field. He would hold onto the fence and rattle it screaming JOHNNYYYYYY all nine innings. It was ridiculous. I felt bad for John.

Can't see it; unless we have 3 or 4 guys go down and even then I would think Callahan or Ferraro is ahead of him development wise. I would say patience is prudent with him. Coming off an injury, adapting to a league of men rather than boys, and his first real taste of pro hockey. Lots of adjustments; let's just leave him alone to find his game and when he starts leading his team/league in a couple years like Teemu has done then we can bring him up for a taste. This method has worked well for us in the past, (Tatar, Nyquist, Sheehan) so let's not break the mold or rush this kid. We need him to develop into a 1st line scorer, not a 3rd liner.

Yeahhh. But Quincey has, *arguably* been worth a late first round pick. Especially lately. Tonight he was physical behind and in front of the net, for the most part, and hard on the puck. He's been good.
