Yup, another grinding player is exactly what this team needs... We obviously don't need goal scoring... Mantha is a goal scorer, but f*** that noise, we need to turn him into a two-way player... We don't have enough guys that play a 200 foot game... I too watch a ton of Griffins games, and I'm a huge fan of Bertuzzi, but I highly doubt he'll be "miles ahead of Mantha in three years"...

LOL at some on here. Bert better than MANtha? LOL Please. Lil Bert is nothing more than another Helm/Ott/Glendening. That is it. He is a checker. Good at it yes, but a checker and nothing more. This 2 way crap don't work. We need wingers that can score, defensemen that can play defense, and C's that can do both. We have none of this. But hey we continue to get worse and Holland knows all.

That's nice but this team has enough guys that qualify as two way guys that can't score. This team needs a true offensive body. You don't have to be a two way player if you score enough. I don't dislike the Bert callup. I love the kids game and am glad he's up. He just doesn't have a top 6 game and that's what the team needs with Vanek out. No argument on the treatment of Cujo, he definitely got a raw deal. Much worse then Howard. What did Howard "bring on to himself"? Howard is an average starting goaltender, who is paid like an average starting goaltender. According to sportstrac, he is the 17th highest paid goalie in the league. http://www.spotrac.com/nhl/contracts/goaltender/ Sure he lost him job to Mrazek, but that is because Mrazek is the future and Howard has had injury issues. Howard still has the skill set to be a decent starter in this league. When healthy, he has shown that. If Howard was the highest paid goalie in the league, or even top 10 I would get the extreme negativity towards him. However, in reality he has played exactly to his level of skill....average. I am not sure why fans expected him to become Lundqvist or Quick, he is not that. He has played over the last 7 years here in Detroit just like he is paid, an average/slightly above average starting goalie. When I say Howard gets a raw deal, what I mean is that fans expect more out of him then he is paid, or able to provide. It would be like getting upset with Nyquist for not get 90 points. He is simply not a 90 point player, nor is he paid like a 90 point player.

IMO hes worth more now considering such a low cap. yeah holland was never trading for anyone anyway. buckle up wings fans going to be a long year

Bert will be miles ahead of Mantha in three years. Tough, competitive, a gamer. I am at almost every Griffin game and it is apples and oranges. Mantha scores, but is not a two way player. Bert is going to grind, which the wings sorely miss right now. Watch the game tomorrow and see if you agree.

Abby and Helm will never be traded unless Holland is no longer the gm.

When you score 1 goal, you can't blame your goalie. Sorry guys, but you are trying to create a false narrative that validates things you have said in the past. To quote the 3 faces of Bill......debunked brah! Lol.

I mean neither goalie has actually done well when the team was bad. Both have gone through stretches of being good but not over the course of entire season. Neither of them are Dominic Hasek. Only Hasek could play on a bad team, carry them, win the Vezina and the Hart trophy. The way I see it, both goalies have shown flashes of bad. Both have shown flashes of good. Howard imo is less versatile, Mrazek likely has the higher potential.
