Losing to this team again is not an option. Wings should come out flying after their two embarrassing losses to them

Mantha also has 12 points (6 goals, 6 assists) in the 10 games since he was a "healthy scratch". He had points in 7 / 10 of those games. The Griffins were 7-0 in the games he registered at least one point and 1-2 in the 3 games that he didn't, one in which the team was shut out. I've said it before but I've been very impressed with Mantha all season. I missed the last 3 games but watched most of yesterday's game, and again he was the best player on the ice for either team. I still think he is better off finishing out this season in GR, but I can't wait to see him wear the winged wheel, and it won't be long before he is if he keeps up this level of play.

    2015-16 GDT Sign-up Sheet

I will go ahead and grab up the Kings on the 11th and the Isles on the 25th. It's about time I made an appearance this season.

TCF Bank Stadium. Wild vs. pretty much any of their division would be great, but would prefer Blues, Hawks (ugh), Jets (imagine the old school jerseys), Stars (team in en fuego and prob will still be next year). Think it makes sense - hockey pretty big in Minnesota, could host for college/junior/high school etc games outside of the actual WC and I bet it would be a great event even if they can't get beer sold at college stadium, I remember that being a hurdle that needed to be crossed for hosting at Michigan Stadium.

Mantha should get a call up sometime this year similar to AA with significant ice time just to get his feet wet. A season of being the go to guys and a deep playoff run with another good training camp and they'll both be approaching overripe status and should dominate the AHL next year (until their full time red wings at least)

FA sweepstakes, did we win one?

looking back at the 2 sweepstakes for college D men we were involved in i was wondering how you all think we did . back in 2012 it was the Justin Schultz show where we put forward a good pitch but came up empty handed. then a year later saw us enter the Danny DeKeyser which we won due mainly to the home front situ. both are well into what promises to be good NHL careers and a quick check on their progress shows that we may just have come out on top with our signing. to date Schultz has a record of pl 229 g 26 a 69 t 95 pts 44 pims and a rather poor -65. our boy DD has record to date pl 191 g 8 a 56 t 63 pts 90 pims and a +30 rating. although DeKeyser was never a prolific scorer in NCAA compared to Schultz i feel his $2,187,500 is somewhat better value than what the Oilers are paying Schultz $3,900,000, both are due renewing at seasons end, wonder who'll get the better deal. So do you think in hindsight Detroit got the better all round or would Schultz have thrived more in the Redwings system? Would we have gone for Dekeyser as well if we had of signed Schultz ? Also, i think we have got a steal in Russo for the blueline too, he's on course for a 40pt+ rookie season.

Always appreciate your input as I never get to watch the Griffin's games. I'm still pretty excited about Mantha and love to hear he's trending upward. I'm in agreement, let him ride the full season out down there, learn to dominate/gain some confidence.

Lol what is this comment. I'm guessing whatever happens won't be before trade deadline and I haven't heard Blash request for anything. Last year Babs had needs. Not sure what Blash has in mind to recruit.

Time to not have a game and just have a skills challenge.

Columbus vs Detroit at the Ohio State Horseshoe. I'd go to that game!

Baiting? He's injured. Can't play a dude who was given a definite timeline of return.

    Right Handed Players

Jesus H. Christ on a Popsicle stick this isn't about the skill level it's about handedness and propensity towards TYPE of skill. Pulkinen is most assuredly more skilled at sniping than stick handling just as Datsyuk is most assuredly more skilled at stick handling than sniping.

Sniper does not necessarily mean top goal scorer. Hull is a sniper, Pulk is a sniper, Kane and Datsyuk are stick handlers. At least if I understood KRSmith's meaning.

The problem with your evaluation, is that in 2015 almost every team hovers around .500. You make it sound like this is exclusive to Detroit. This is what you call parity from a salary cap. Just look at the records of the top teams in the east, and for the sake of winning % throw OTL into the losses category. Florida - 22-16 Montreal - 22-18 Detroit - 19-20 Boston - 20-17 Ottawa - 18-20 Tampa - 19-20 Washington - 28-10 (obvious outlier) NYI - 21-18 NYR - 21-18 NJ - 20-19 Pittsburgh - 19-19

    Bravo, Smitty

The thing about Smith was he always had some trouble in his own end. He has the speed to make up for it. 7 points in 8 games I want to see more. The first unit in the PP is abysmal right now. Throw him out there.

In my opinion, there's still a lot of work to be done on quality of competition metrics. It's widely considered that over a significant period of time, competition will balance out. Looking at stats like CF% of competition seems to confirm that, since the range is pretty narrow. But I don't think it's comprehensive enough. If better players are playing against better players, you'd expect it to negatively impact the stats of both. For instance, Kronwall and Smith have a similar level of competition based off the common measurements. But I looked at some matchups on war-on-ice (all games this year against, Boston, Buffalo, and Carolina). In those games, Kronwall spent about 35% of his ice time against players with 20+ points, 27% against players between 11-19 points, and 38% against players with under 10. Smith was 24% against the top scorers, 25% against the middle, and 50 against the bottom. Seems to be much more significant than suggested by the usual QoC metrics. However, no matter how you look at it, Kronwall has not been particularly good so far this year.

E should be no where near this team when Quincey comes back. I like the Smith Green pairing a lot. Dekeyer can play with Quincey and yes stick Kronwall on the third pair with Marchenko. They will be a lot better off.
