At the end of the day, the playoffs are based on a record though 82 games. In 82 games, we won enough to earn a playoff spot. Am I happy about the last two games...no. But, the season is not a 3 game season. I just hope the Wings that come out in the playoffs are the same team I watched shutout Philly earlier in the week.

The Wings have now been in the playoffs consecutively for half of my life. No wonder this half has been better than the first.

Not a great way to get in, and obviously some changes need to be made. BUT It feels amazing to be in and see the streak continue, regardless of all the bitching being done by the #tankit haters!

40+ points is worth $4M+, goal short of 20 or not. Especially for a guy as versatile as Abby. In the last 69 games of the season, he had as many points as Zetterberg.

The whole team has played like trash more or less all season. Mrazek has been a dumpster fire since his birthday, and for the most part it has had little to do with the play in front of him. Since he started playing bad, Howard has been much sharper. This is why he's been getting the starts. Not because he gets paid more, but because he has been giving the team the best chance to win. If it was because of his bigger paycheck, Howard would have been the starter all season long, and that clearly wasn't the case from October to February.

He had 19 goals in the season. 19 or 20 more or less he's a 20 goal scorer. Your point/post is kinda nullified lol.

I'm happy we're in and I'm obviously hoping for the best, but this doesn't feel like other years. I have a hard time saying honestly that I think this team belongs in the playoffs. Mrazek carried them for several months to a better record than they deserved as a whole, and when he slipped, the cracks became all the more clear. We'll see how it goes, but I hope they come out hard as a team and prove they belong there, because right now, they simply are lucky.

Like I said before the Rangers game, it all depends on which team shows up, and I haven't seen nearly enough confidence or resiliency from the team to think that they have what it takes to win in the playoffs.

I remember back in the day when Lidstrom had something like 88 points and we played Nashville? in the playoffs. Theyre leading scorer had something around 45 points and I thought it was the funniest thing of all time. Well here we are...

I wouldn't be completely opposed to holding onto Howard to start next season if we can sign Mrazek at a bit of a discount due to his struggles down the stretch. If Mrazek steals the starting role once again next season, which I think he will, we could then look to trade Howard at or before the deadline. On the flip side, if Howard gets us into the playoffs, maintains the starting role, and gets us through a round or two, his value will sky rocket, and it would be the best opportunity to move him... But if that were the case, would Kenny pulled the trigger? I'm not so sure...

I'll add, Pav's doesn't speak the best English, so what he says can easily be miss understood. As mentioned, I say he honor's the contract.

I'll say it again: These people get paid millions and millions of dollars annually to shoot a rubber puck into a mesh net; When these same people push for a 3 year contract at 35+ years old (which is not the organizations idea) - they do so knowing the implications early "retirement" will cause - so I have no idea how you can justify leaving after the 2nd year, to go and do the exact same thing somewhere else because you "want to gives back to Russia people". That's great Pavel - and can you also "gives back" our $7.5 Million salary cap penalty which basically prevents us from signing Steven Stamkos? Stop being emotional, Pavel Datsyuk is not injured or unable to be an effective NHL player... He is literally going to do the exact same thing next season for a different team without caring about the setback it causes the Detroit Red Wings... The same team that signed him in 2001 (when the "Russia people" weren't paying nearly as much money to it's players). I don't know about you, but if someone in a foreign country offered to pay me $74,525,000 over 14 seasons to play hockey, I probably honour the 15th season as well.
